I cant get why its SOOO good this... it have an extremely good codes or what? i dont know why decapitator its the go-to... i cant find a difference between other saturators... maybe i dont know which plugin will be at that level?

the reason soundtoys is popular is the combination of two things:
1) interesting parameters not normally found on effects of their type leading to novel options (the reason it is very hard to replace echoboy even today)
2) not having a lot of competition when they released some of their plugins

if decapitator was released today instead of 15 years ago, far fewer people would care. the fact that it is still serviceable at all points to how quality it was, even if its uniqueness is gone

 

because they are ancient enough to catch big audience that keeps paying, just like Waves or ProTools....

Good code is definitely part of it.

They "got" analogue sounding saturation in digital before everyone else, so they've been the go-to brand for almost two decades now. When you hear every famous mixer and their grandmother saying Decapitator is on every track of every project for long enough, you'll end up believing it sounds better than anything else.

I'm not sure they would win against competitors in blind tests.

did u know how to make a comparable test with others plugins to decapitator? i have good results on little radiator but echo boy and decapitator i cant hear any difference against others plugins...

 

Idk, you'd have to find plugins that pretend to emulate the same preamps, than try to null them I guess? I admit I've never cared that much, I just have my couple or three favorites that I use when I want that juice, and Decapitator is one of them

 

don't force yourself, if you don't hear why something's good, it's probably not for you. if everyone had the same ears we wouldn't need different genres

Soundtoys plugins simply sound good. I have no clue what they do to make it sound good. Not my paygrade.

 

soundtoys is for boomers and people who only use protools. They make some great plugins, but theres far better options nowadays.

 

Ain't the guys for soundtoys the same that worked for eventide, or something like that?
