question about equalizing

    It's often forgotten what eq originally meant. Equalisation in the early days of recording was intended to make the tonal spectrum more "equal" Hence if you had an ear piercing horn section, then attenuation of that frequency would equalise it and make it blend with the rest of the performance. Now sound shaping tools are so powerful that applying eq is part of the composition process.
