Well, finally finished this track, been working on it about 10 days...My cover of Pumped up kicks by Foster the people.

All played \ sang \ produced from scratch in Ableton Live 8

Hope it was worth all the work...

    Comments welcomed.

    Cheers and thanks for listening!

Great use of pads, very warm, warbly and subtle, just how a nice pad should be.

I like the "eh-eh-eeh" sound in the intro, they could come back low in the mix at 2:26 and fade out again before the whistling.

Good job on the drums, the bass makes me wobble my head... groovy.

Vox at the start are a bit too radio-fx'd, little bit too thin. I know thats the effect you're goin for, but, just sayin'. Theres also some very noticable breaths that can be cut, but I assume you're trying to keep everything as organic as possible..

Chorus is great, vocals great here... possibly a bit too wet on the reverb but im only nit-picking here.

    Nice whistlin'

Great job overall I have to say *yes*

Thanks Paus.. right on as usual I think.. certainly was trying to keep it fairly close to the orig as far as the vocals go.. and I agree on the chorus verb, but just having me singing, hard to avoid in an effort to get some depth without 3 others on the track with me..I did sing some harmony, but you know how it is, without different voice formants, just starts to sound quadrupled using the same singer for all. Theres also some slight use of Avox Harmony engine on the chorus.

Lord knows I spent bloody ages getting it how it sounds now. :wow:

I might could add what u mentioned too, I'm pretty sure I intended to, per the orig.... and overlooked that.

Thanks for ur input mate :mates:

    WOW!
    Reason, your track is awesome!
It's definetely one of the bests tracks that I've seen here. Or maybe the best.
I see a lot of production going on.

    Keep it going man!

I agree. Maybe a little more (filtered) delay on the vocals instead of too much reverb should work better

I don't agree. the radio vox are fine IMO(!!!). the breaths are ok I think. You could try to get them more effected for using as kinda transition fx.

    all in all:
    it's ok. it's a nice track.
but it's a cover song and actually not that far away from the original. so honestly i'm not that overwhelmed like the others.
a little more "depth" to the drums would be nice. maybe some parallel compression. and some eq-ing... especially on the snare. it needs a little more presence.
    (IMO)

    your vocals are pretty nice.

Thanks Rimshooter for the constructive feedback, at this point tho, after spending so much time on it, Probably done with it, altho, some good suggestions, I appreciate them and will take into account should I tweak it some in the future for maybe an Itunes release or Youtube. Honestly, If i play it one more time my head may explode.

lastly, I did actually want to try emulate the song, best I could.. just to see if I could.. wasnt a cover in the traditional sense of wanting to make it my own.

In the end..I'm pretty pleased and will prob. get to work on one of my originals now.

    Good learning experience!

    Thanks! :mates:
