Be it hereby resolved that any person, group or corporate entity that uses the word "cinematic" in the title, description or promotion of a sound or music product shall be found guilty of grave offences against the language and shall be banished indefinitely to easy-listening radio-land forthwith.

    Is "cinematic" a dirty-word? :dunno:

  5. That just might be a cinematic faux pas of epic proportions.

Just like the word "Pro" in today's mobile apps
Development has evolved to a point where "Pro" has become a little warning sign indicating low-quality apps with a few features only.

While we are at it, I would also suggest to stop using the word "essential". I mean... really?

Yes annoying, agreed. But many genre descriptions have been hijacked and abused. For instance, when i see what some people call R&B today i shudder and remember what R&B should be: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_rhythm_and_blues !

    What does "cinematic" actually mean?

There's no point of reference. There's only a vague idea of what one could mean by saying that. I mean I have one but I don't know if it's 100% the same as anyone else's. It's weird and hard to describe, because it's a feeling/idea in one's head that needs to be put in specific (or not) words.

It's like saying a piece is not "juicy" enough. Come again? Do you want me to submerge it in lemonade or something?

But I guess you'll have to live with these abstract descriptions.

    But "essential" is ...essential. :bleh:

    Aye!

I realized that I could pre-empt superfluous libraries and software instruments by avoiding things with the words "cinematic," "urban," "assault," "apocalypse," "apocalyptic," "EDM," and/or, "real."

well ya know how it is...

marketing buzzwords are everywhere. As long as it doesnt affect your own ability to make music, just let it happen...

This whole entire world of computer music production has kind of overflooded anyway, nothing you can do about it... just make the music you like and move on...
