I simply don't like the fact i have to buy TWICE my synths/effects to use another DAW
That's their biggest limitation to their closed format.

Racks are very nice to me. Kind of half-way between full modular and chained only.

Some years before praising their RE plugs, they were saying there will never be any plugs in Reason. They created Record, and killed it to include it in Reason, witch was supposed to NEVER (once again) record audio.
There are other non-senses i don't remember.

I don't know where they are going...and they probably don't, too. So to me, it is a bad investment. May be it is good for ppl with spare money...

 

Fuck Reason. Enough said.

 

I agree, their Rack Extension licensing sucks big time, and they made false statements claiming Rack Extension can't crash Reason itself (which IS possible, see screenshot).




They do not allow to sell/transfer Rack Extension licenses, even while they KNOW this is against EU rules http://www.theverge.com/2012/7/3/3134867/eu-court-of-justice-used-software-download-ruling
Their Rack Extension format (which is just a simple edited VST format, if you have to believe their own words claiming it's pretty simple to convert an existing VST to fit in their Racks) is the new money-mule for Propellerhead http://www.solidinfo.se/foretag/propellerhead-software-aktiebolag-0A43/ekonomi

I fully agree with @Pipotron3000 it doesn't make sense to pay twice for a product (if you already own a VST version, or vice versa).

My advice, forget about Reason... look for a better DAW and not a "closed" format that limits you in all ways.

 

Reason way overpriced imho & half the refils & synths sound pretty shitty also. Some are ok tho.

For me personally like the others have metioned it sucks big time.

For the same amount of cash I reckon u can get much better alternatives. For example buy Reaper & a load of Quality VSTi's for the same price.

They just been selling ANA for £29 so for me personally $99 dollars for Propellerhead Radical Keys is a *no* when it probably sounds shite anyway.

All just my opinion and if Reason you're thing then cool but for me no thanks
