It occurred to me to do some performance tests and I need heavy projects.

I have a curious question:

on my computer with 12 GB of ram, however when I ran "activity monitor" I saw that logic was using 14 GB of ram??...how is it possible if I only have 12?? in LogicAlchemyTest tests.

in the New-Logic-Benchmark-Test 2 test it does not exceed 1.5GB

I was thinking that the performance meter also averages with the ram?

What is each "Threads" line supposed to measure?

You need U-he Diva for that test - specifically as in Divine mode it properly hammers your CPU.

AS @Bitmonkey says you need to install Diva to perform this test.
With 65 tracks your mac should be MacBook Pro 15 2018 2,2Ghz i7, more or less?
Depends on your workflow, and the number of tracks you need. But 50 is a good average.
I can run 280 tracks on this test. So you can compare with a new machine.
All is about New-Logic-Benchmark-Test 2, forget the others.
This is just to run the same test and compare to others. A test is always relative.

Logic could be using more ram, using your hard drive as a pagination file. (Using youd hard disk as ram)
The performance in logic is more related with the number of cores available. (P cores more than E cores)

One last words, forget about the machine, until you reach a point you really need to update it. It is better to start your music creations with what you have, than get obsessed with benchmark test.

 

I just opened a full Logic project with 90 audio channels, a ton of plugins, and many Plugin synths in it. And I am showing 2.8 GB memory usage on 234 threads.

I just did the test with Diva.

Looking at the performance meter, I think the maximum it can hold is 28 tracks, reaching almost 100%, in any case it does not present any type of lag, etc.
