just wondered how do people develop a plugin or a DAW for example, thanks for replies just for my curiosity about this subject

 

First you need a Background in C++ or a similar high Level Programming language.

Then you have to understand basic DSP.

Dozens of great (and so-so) VST instrument and effects were (and still are) produced using the classic old framework - Synthedit.

Newer VST's are being produced using it's updated replacement - Flowstone

Some developers are producing apps based on Juice.

The above examples are described as 'high-level' application development platforms.
Whereas C/C++ are low-level code frameworks but still need to be complied.
