Today, out of nowhere, I can't pan anything to the right. No issues before. If any track (mono or stereo) is center everything seems fine - sound in left and right. Pan to the left no issues except even at hard left I still get sound in right monitor or headphone. Pan right and no sound. I've checked my connections, rebooted both interface and computer. Nothing is fixing it. Any ideas? I'm stumped and can't mix now. Using Pro Tools 12.3.1, Windows 10, and NRV10 M-Audio firewire interface.

 

basics. is it only Protools that is actually doing this? Did you try in another audio application? That will tip you off to wether it is your application, your OS/driver, etc. Rule one layer out, and go to the next.

 

It happens in Reaper as well.

Have you checked your Pro Tools routing settings page?
Have you tried different audio playback software?
Have you tried the internal soundcard outputs?

 

it may sound weird, but did you actually check that the headphone cable is ok? and did you test it with external music and/or the system properties changing the balance (or panning)?

because, as i'm watching it right now, it looks like a bad wire soldering (it got loose and/or side changed)

I think's it the routing problem

Sorry if i chime in with OOT case, but in my recent case Protools is flickering on my screen .. i don't think they have fixed this issue, and i am stuck on PT2020 .. oh well

 

It's both mono and stereo tracks. It's headphones and speakers. Anything panned right doesn't playback in PT (or Reaper) but a hard left/right mixdown from PT plays fine so it's obviously working that way but it doesn't sound right in PT. I could be missing something but the PT routing seems fine.

 

And I don't know what could suddenly cause this issue? I don't know what got changed and how.

 

if Reaper does the same thing, it's not a protools problem. It is either your sound card software, or at the Driver/OS level. (or hardware)

Does your sound card have routing/etc in software?

 

update your sound card, or else do not do anything it will resolve itself after a while

I know sometimes this happens to me when I send stuff to a Buss and accidentally put a mono plug in on it and forget about it. Then drive myself crazy trying to find the culprit.
