I've always heard that this is the best workaround for VSTs in Pro Tools. I installed the AAX and VST3 version, ran the keygen on my Windows computer and authorized Patchwork via the VST version in FL Studio, but it's still not showing up in Pro Tools. Am I doing something wrong?

 

* Have you confirmed the AAX is correctly installed?

* Has the AAX automatically been moved to Avid's “Plug-Ins (Unused)” folder?

* Have you considered ditching Pro Tools and using a better DAW? Just messing with ya ;-P

 

Initially I only installed the AAX version but when PT didn't recognize it I installed the VST3 version so I could enter the license info. Not sure why it wouldn't work. And yeah, sometimes I wish I wasn't so set on using Pro Tools but it's what I started with and I hate to admit but I love using it. But like I said, there's many times I wish I didn't lol.

 

It's difficult to suggest things to try because there isn't much to go by.

* Did you upgrade from a previous installation?

* Have you tried a clean installation?

Also, again, have you confirmed:

* The AAX is installed correctly, and

* Has not been moved to Avid's “Plug-Ins (Unused)” folder?

 

I think the issue is the release. I only have the install file so the plugin must be modified. It works fine as a VST3 plugin in Waves Studio Verse. I totally forgot that I can use Studio Verse so I guess I don’t need Patch Work after all.

 

You should never "use your Windows computer" to run keygens. They gather information from the machine they are run on. R2R nfo instructions do not elaborate on how they mean "run our keygen on windows", because it is such a basic thing the user should already be aware of. It means on the same machine you are going to authorize their release. That can be dual boot, or by a windows virtualization.

 

I’m not very familiar with Mac OS yet so I wasnt aware of that, definitely good to know. For what it’s worth, the plugin was still licensed and works correctly as a VST and AU plugin so running the keygen on Windows did work, but maybe thats why its not showing up in Pro Tools. Dual booting sounds pretty involved and I’m not sure I want to get into all of that so maybe I’ll go back to my PC for now; I feel like I’m flooding the board with basic questions. I’ll look into windows virtualization, that sounds much easier.

 

Use Crossover. Create a Windows 10 bottle in it. Pick the .exe you want to "install" and it will run it. It's the easiest way to do this. Search on sister site for Crossover and it will be the second result for v24. After you install it, you will be able to right click a Windows exe and it will say run in Crossover in that right click menu. Make 1 win10 bottle only, call it "r2r" or "keygens", whatever. Keep reusing the same bottle, they are about 500 meg each and you do not want to make a bunch of them.

These are basic questions, which is why you will find the answers to 99% of them by just searching here or using ChatGPT. Send a PM instead of making a new thread.
