I'v got a test drive for testing new OSX and updates.
After installing El Capitan I installed PT10 HD on it and I got restart/Shutdown issue, beside plugins list graphic issue Yosemite/El Capitan have (there is a workaround for that). I have a Hackintosh and every things working fine except PT10
Interface: M-Audio ProFire 610 (working with v2.4.4)
Any one installed PT10 on their Mac/Hackintosh?
Have you got any problems?
Do you have any solution for that?
Please share here if you got something

By removing Avid CoreAudio my Restart/Shutdown issue is gone

PT10 cannot run on Yosemite/El capitan

 

Actually it's working but I'v got restart/shutdown issue. After I installed PT10 El Capitan can't restart or shutdown.

Kermit ! there is a work around for the Graphic issue for the plugs in PT10 try Goolge Seen folks saying you have to lower your resolution when using pt10 something like 1280x1024 or similar then it works fine

 

PT 10 is for sure working perfectly fine on OS X Yosemite versions. Esp w the screen resolution trick

@Snill, did you read the osx el capitan threads, about turning off certain restrictive features? i would start there. good luck!

 

You mean SIP? Im using Hackintosh and I already disabled SIP.

 

I couldn't even install PT 10.3.10 on Yosemite. Would be nice. I have to run it from Mountain Lion, after booting to that partition.

 

You can install PT10 on Yosemite or El Capitan. For installing you have to change "system Version" to 10.9 in SystemVersion.plist and after installation you can change it back. But you will got graphic issue on plugins list, it gets black and when you move your mouse on the list then it appears, beside this it works great.

@Snill, more info on what is not working with PT10 in El Capitan, pls? Many of us would appreciate a heads-up, if possible

 

For me no go with PT10 on EL Capitan, my hackintosh gets restart/shutdown problem and I had to delete it several times. Other than that and graphis issue, everything working fine as far as I know.

 

so you got it installed, up and running... but something is causing it to shutdown? while bouncing, just playing, a certain edit tool enabled?!? any idea what could be causing the shutdown? i'm currently setting up an osx 10.11.x to test. thank you

 

Everything working without problem I just can't restart/shutdown my Hackintosh after PT installed.
I had to run terminal code to restart or shutdown the Hackintosh.

ProTools 10 only work, if it was installed PRIOR to upgrading to El Capitan. A friend of mine came over and I wanted to install a fresher release. So I uninstalled it. Then I couldn't run the installer any more. Next, I tried pacifist to install it. Didnt work either.

But since it wasn't my machine I didn't wanted to do the trick with changing the OSX Version Number.

Not true my friend I installed it several times and I still can install it but for some reasons that I mentioned I can't have it in El Capitan anymore until someone find a solution for it.

 

Good for you, but that's what happened to me yesteday. So it was pretty true for me :D

 

Did you change your system version to 10.9? If not then you have to do it before installing it.

 

why are people updating to el capitan?

 

Because it is new.
Why people buy new gadgets? Why people buy new mobile or so?
I think people like new things. New style new anything.
But I still have Mavericks on my primary HHD, EL is just on the test drive.

 

I won't upgrade to El Capitan, because they removed the option to repair permissions from diskutility! :D BUT if you haven't purchased Mavericks or earlier OSXes in the App store you just can't get a legit older Version of OSX without dowloading it somewhere else. So that's another reason

 

The whole time I ran Yosemite I had restart/shutdown problems. The machine wouldn't restart until I ejected the external drives and quit the background apps one by one, for example if TextEdit was running in the background, the computer wouldn't restart/shutdown. The issues is now fixed in El Capitan.
Pro Tools 10 is NOT supported by Avid starting with Yosemite. It ran, but with graphical issues, ex: plugin drop menu list was blank until moving the cursor over it. And it ran because I installed it on Mavericks then upgraded to Yosemite. When I tried to update to the latest PT 10 version it wouldn't install because it was "incompatible with the os". So even if you find some ways to install it, there will most likely be problems.
