I have Beyerdynamic 880 pro, but recently I started getting a buzz in right can on low frequencies. Luckily the warranty is still on so I have to send them back.
So I was looking for a cheap temporary substitute and my love to Studio One brought me to Presonus Headphones, which are only 20£ !!! They just arrived and I m blown away. I AB-ed them with Beyerdynamics and obviously Beyer's are class above. But considering the price difference, like I said, I was blown away. The highs are much more detailed on Beyer but you really need to listen for it. Another funny thing about presonus is that they are a lot bassier, and maybe somebody can clarify this for me: I think the spring that connects the cans might be the culprit. I just accidentally plucked it and it sounds like double bass pluck. Man I wish I can sample it...
Anyhow, just a suggestion, especially if you are just starting out, definitely go for Presonus. With 20£ you cant go wrong. Its good not to splash a lot of money on equipment before you are certain this is what you want to do, I think.

It's relatively easy to overcompensate the bass (increase it) with them, so I wouldn't say they're too bass-heavy. You could say that they are quite accurate without the [reflections/room] boominess in a way though. Depending on the volume/gain [and track playing] the highs can be a bit piercing (so they can sound a bit in the background on monitors - again you can overcompensate a bit [decrease highs]). On the other hand, the mid/highs are quite clear and detailed. They're also pretty sturdy. They can also tire your ears fairly quickly (on the outer physical side, not the listening side as much).

Pretty good left-right representation. Depth [reverb] can be tricky (duh...) [add more reverb].

Overall, definitely recommended - even as a second/third/whatever reference.
