im using Cubase 5 and running an Windows 10, 64 bit system.
all the VST3 plugins i installed works...

but the other plugins that are VST or VST2 doesnt work on my system...
for example the "Softube Tube Tech CL B" plugin...

it has only VST and RTAS Plugins but my cubase cant find the insert plugins...


is there any chance to get vst / vst2 working? vst3 works ... but not the others...

and not all plugins are vst3, some of them are only vst / vst2

 

depends what windows version you have ie: 1803 ect as some updates dont work after updating windows

 

Right click on Cubase.exe,"properties",then tick "windows 8 compatibility mode".
That should work.

 

Wait a minute, did you tell cubase where to look in it's plugin manager???

I thought one doesnt work, but it doesn't show any?
that means you havent told the path.

or else:
Try to activate the administrator account, logon there and try the plugin as administrator.
Older software isn't used to run on restricted users.
I'm working as user "administrator" since ever, and I kept it that way, even when win7 and Win8 and now Win10 totally were against it.
I guess this is one of the main reasons I run ancient software on new hardware with windows 10 now.
Oh yeah: You don't need to be scared. People so dumb to click on email-exes can't be helped, even when they ain't superuser.
Using brains helps.

Oh, and often installing older runtimes of visual c or visual basic helps, there is some tool,
i guess it's named dependency walker. that tool can show you what dlls and other software your plugin is dependent from.

Maybe he hasn't installed the vst2 plugins in the right folder.
