Ok so I searched for this and I see nothing about, and I think this is where it should be posted? I was wondering if anyone knew of any programs that give you a list of all installed plugins vst. .dll vst3 etc.

I am having problems getting my pc to load the microsoft store, it will not download any apps and it keeps saying retry "there's a problem on our end". I've tried to eveyhthing to fix it that I've found that has been suggested and I'm not having any luck at all with it. So I'm thinking I just need do a format and reload windows or something and just start over.

I know of the installed program list command to get the .list in cmd, but not sure about plugins/vsts

I'm not aware of such a program, it would be useful. In the past I have used Total Commander to print out my VST folders contents as a pdf.

OwlPlug is a desktop application for Windows, Mac and Linux, that simplifies Audio Plugins management and installation.
User installed plugins are automatically discovered and new plugins can be installed through Registries.

I understand you're having trouble with the Microsoft Store not loading or downloading apps, consistently showing the error "there's a problem on our end." Since you've already tried various suggested fixes without success, I'll provide a concise, step-by-step approach to troubleshoot further and avoid a full Windows format/reinstall if possible. If a reinstall becomes necessary, I’ll also guide you on how to prepare.

    Troubleshooting Microsoft Store Issues
Here are targeted steps to try before resorting to a full Windows reinstall. These cover common and advanced fixes, assuming you've already attempted basic troubleshooting like restarting your PC or checking your internet connection.

    1. Reset Microsoft Store and Clear Cache
    • Run WSReset:
      • Press Win + R, type wsreset.exe, and press Enter.
      • A blank Command Prompt window will appear, and the Store cache will be cleared. The Store should reopen automatically.
      • Check if the error persists after this.
    • Reset the Store App:
      • Go to Settings > Apps > Apps & Features.
      • Search for "Microsoft Store," click it, select Advanced options, and click Reset.
      • Restart your PC and try opening the Store again.
    2. Check for Windows Updates
    • Go to Settings > Windows Update (or Update & Security on Windows 10).
    • Ensure all updates are installed, as outdated system files can cause Store issues.
    • If updates fail, try the Windows Update Troubleshooter: Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Other troubleshooters > Windows Update.
    3. Re-register Microsoft Store
    • Open PowerShell as Administrator (search for "PowerShell" in the Start menu, right-click, and select "Run as administrator").
    • Run the following command:
      powershell
      Get-AppxPackage -allusers Microsoft.WindowsStore | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    • This re-registers the Store app. Restart your PC and test the Store.
    4. Check System Files for Corruption
    • Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
    • Run:
      cmd
      sfc /scannow

This checks for and repairs corrupted system files.
    • If issues are found, run:
      cmd
      DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

    • Restart your PC and try the Store again.
    5. Verify Microsoft Account and Services
    • Sign out and back in:
      • Open the Microsoft Store, click your profile picture, and sign out. Then sign back in with your Microsoft account.
    • Check account sync:
      • Go to Settings > Accounts > Email & accounts and ensure your Microsoft account is added and synced.
    • Check Store services:
      • Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
      • Ensure the following services are running (right-click > Start if they’re not):
        • Windows Update
        • Microsoft Store Install Service
        • Background Intelligent Transfer Service (BITS)
    6. Create a New User Account
Sometimes, the issue is specific to your user profile.

    • Go to Settings > Accounts > Family & other users > Add someone else to this PC.
    • Create a new local account (or Microsoft account), log in with it, and test the Store.
    • If it works, you can transfer your files to the new account to avoid a full reinstall.
    7. Perform an In-Place Upgrade
If the above steps fail, an in-place upgrade can repair Windows without losing your files or apps:

    • Download the Windows 10/11 ISO from Microsoft’s website.
    • Mount the ISO (right-click > Mount) and run setup.exe.
    • Choose to Keep personal files and apps during the upgrade process.
    • This reinstalls Windows while preserving your data and should fix Store issues.
If You Must Format and Reinstall Windows
If none of the above works and you decide to format/reinstall Windows, here’s how to prepare:

    • Backup important data:
      • Save files, documents, and any VST plugins (from your earlier question) to an external drive or cloud storage.
      • For VST plugins, copy folders like C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\VST3, or custom VST2 paths (e.g., C:\Program Files\Steinberg\VSTPlugins).
      • Note any custom plugin paths in your DAW for re-setup later.
    • Create a Windows installation media:
      • Use the Media Creation Tool from Microsoft’s website to create a bootable USB drive.
      • Follow the prompts to format and reinstall Windows.
    • Post-reinstall steps:
      • Reinstall your DAW and VST plugins.
      • Reconfigure plugin paths in your DAW.
      • Reinstall the Microsoft Store apps you need.
    Additional Notes
    • Check error codes: If the Store provides a specific error code (e.g., 0x80073CF9), share it for more targeted advice.
    • System details: If you can provide your Windows version (e.g., Windows 11 23H2, Windows 10 22H2), I can tailor the steps further.
    • Avoid unnecessary formats: A full format/reinstall is rarely needed for Store issues, so try the in-place upgrade first.
If you want to focus on one of these steps or need help with a specific error message, let me know, and I’ll guide you further!

You use Ableton? You do now.

    https://github.com/fpoulin/vst-lister

Or just use something like Everything search app, plug in vst and print/screencap it.

If you do already use Ableton, there also exists a max device that give a list of all used vsts and devices per project... I'd have to look though to remind myeslf of the name.

There's also this one I recently found out, but I haven't used it: https://helpmedevvon.com/products/bypass

I think it's meant for deleting plugins, but if it can delete, it will also list what it can delete.

Thanks yea I've tried all that, the powershell uninstall reinstall packages etc. nothing worked. I think what it pertains to is since that guy reloaded my computer with that other drive my main user profile was "pc". Well he changed it to my name "eric" and now my plugins, directories, library and banks etc. are all messed up because they were attached to that profile that no longer exists. Everything is always telling that it's looking for that directory and profile that's not longer there.

I thought of that but I was the admin so would I be able to reclaim the same directories? Also would it recognize a new profile was made instead of the old one?

Do you think that will fix my microsoft store problem? I can't download the xbox app or anything

When you installed Windows back then, you had to give your PC a name. Hopefully, you remembered it. If you've given it a different name now, you can undo it and enter the original name again. Restart your PC, and everything will be OK.

Windows doesn't use the 'easy for human to read' identifiers for connecting access, objects etc to users or admin. Renaming the admin account shouldn't cause this, all local permissions should be transferred and it doesn't affect your Microsoft accounts credentials as one is not the other. Creating a new user giving it admin then deleting the former can and will cause this behavior for non-system level data. Ie, your MS store account. What do you mean by some guy 'reloaded your computer with another drive.' Are you sure the user account was just renamed and not wholly replaced?

By all means, do try switching back to the og name if it is still the same account. What windows 'should' do and 'does' do....

    Find out your Microsoft account
Your Microsoft account (formerly Windows Live ID) consists of a random email address and a password. With this account, you can log in to all Windows services, such as Xbox or Skype. Recovering your password works just like with any other service: You simply have a recovery link sent to your email address. But what if you've forgotten that too? You can tackle the problem as follows:

    • If you're lucky, your email address is stored with a Microsoft service. So, if you want to log in to Xbox Live, for example, but have forgotten the email address, you could check Skype or SkyDrive, for example.
    • In the case of Xbox, you can also ask Xbox users you know. Perhaps you've chatted with someone who has you in their contact list.
    • Unfortunately, Microsoft isn't allowed to release customer data due to privacy regulations.
    • Therefore, the only remaining solution is to create a new account.

Oh ok, so I should be able to change my new account to the old one which was "pc" from the new one he made "eric" and everthing should be good again as far as my registered serials and librares etc?

Around the middle of May, I had a problem where I maxed out my C drive and I couldn't boot up. I tried every reccovery method I could, deleted the recycle bing through the recovery cmd prompt and nothing would allow me pc to boot up. So I took it to a shop and the guy transferred all my info to another harddrive I had and reloaded windows then reloaded all my data from that drive back to my C drive. Since he changed the user name on the profile and the old one no longer exists my computer has unregistered nearly everything and lost all the data that was with my plugins because it can't find that "pc" user directory.

Sign in with your Microsoft account to access your games, subscription perks, and Xbox profile:
    1. Select Sign in, and then select Sign in again at the bottom of the menu.
    2. Windows will automatically find your account info. If you don’t recognize the Xbox profile shown, select your gamerpic, and then go to Settings > Change my Microsoft Store accounts to sign in to a different Microsoft account.
If you aren’t sure what the email address is for your Microsoft account, visit:
Find your Microsoft account email address
If you aren’t sure what the password is for your Microsoft account, go to:
Reset or recover your lost Microsoft account password
If you’re having trouble finding the PC gaming content associated with your Windows device, go to:

I'm going to simplify your life. If changing the user account name back to 'pc' doesn't reinstate everything, back up your data, reformat and fresh install. You can be guaranteed to be back to normal in an hour or two or you can spend an indeterminate amount of time on this, in which it now sounds that both deleting the original admin account and/or fucking up the registry are both on the table.
