Hi everybody,

I set up Kontakt 8 v8.8.1-bobdule on a Win11 machine. It works great.

This version also came with Kontakt Library Tools. It has Nicnt Maker and Nicnt Maker 2. I tried both. I also tried Nicnt Generator 2.1x64-TRACER.

This is the workflow:

1) copy Nicnt Maker (or NICNTGENERATOR) into root folder of the library I want to create an nicnt of
2) run it
3) set SNPID (previously assuring that this SNPID is not currently in use)
4) GENERATE

It will then create an nicnt file in the root folder, as well as a corresponding xml file in Common Files\Native Instruments\Service Center.

I would then either run Add Library (when using Kontakt Library Tools) or AddLib64Kontakt.exe (when using NICNTGENERATOR). Then I would run JSON Cleaner from KLT. Finally, I would restart Kontakt.

During the process, it would sometimes ask whether I would like to generate a wallpaper, which I do.

EXPECTATION: after creating this nicnt file, the library would be available directly via Kontakt UI without manually having to load it (correct?).

RESULT: I don't see the newly added instrument(s). I can still manually load them, but creating the nicnt did not seem to do anything at all.

Exception: I believe it worked once, but while it didn't generate a specific entry for the company, it did list one instrument under KONTAKT (which is a library within Kontakt with manual libraries, I suppose). I cannot say for sure whether this worked, because I did not check this KONTAKT section beforehand; but when I searched for the custom library by name, it showed up there. However, the next library I tested did not only not show up under KONTAKT, it did not show up anywhere at all. It was not found when searching for the name I assigned it.

Can you please help me figure this out? Most of the libraries I use do not have an nicnt file, and while it is fine to manually load them theoretically, it would be much much more helpful to access them directly through Kontakt, so that one could favorite certain instruments etc.

Am I doing something wrong? Am I missing something? The NICNTGENERATOR came with a short tutorial video, which I followed, but neither it, nor the KLT version, seems to work for me at the moment.
