Hey guys, I'm looking for a batch processor / wav editor that renders a vst chain to files and replaces them at the source folder.

Basically I need something that Acoustica or Wavelab does to perfection, they both batch process files, they both use a chain of (saveable) vst plugins BUT they make a copy and put that in an output folder.

I need that, but I need the file replaced where it came from.
I found something that is a cmd line vst host, with a lot of passion and time I theoretically could make a .bat that would do something similar. But that would extremely suck and be an aweful hack.

Any ideas, I looked all over the webz, even editors/processos that are more or like "batch only" don't do that.

I thought Wavelab can replace original files.

Reaper does batch with plugin chains. Don't know about overwriting originals - does it matter though? Just move the new files in once done processing?

E: Yeah, it can overwrite originals if you really want that.

dbPowerAmp Music converter can do that. It's designed for it in fact. A freakin' beast. Unbeatable speed. When I convert Kontakt samples from 24 to 16 bit is almost addictive. And I usually overwrite original samples. It has saved FX chains, their own and also supports vst/vst3 plugins. I haven't tested vst3 support much.

But I can't imagine it being so compatible with tricky vst3 plugins as Reaper, the solution @xorome suggested.

Thanks a lot for the suggestions!
Gonna check them all out, plus latest WaveLab, I'm on an older version.
I would even prefer DBPowerAmp, as it has the smallest footprint and could easily run besides any daw.
BTW I loved DBPowerAmp, it was the tool I used to convert my CDs to mp3 in the late 90ies / early 00s.
Later I switched to xrecode because I liked the minimalistic Gui more.

/edit/ why not replace by hand?
Its a lot of subfolders, it would be tedious work.

    I LOVE IT!
    Thanks Xupito!
Better than what I hoped for!
Super tiny app and I don't even have to populate the batch list as it even craws through folders and subfolders.
    Awesome, I'm so happy. :thanks:

//edit// oh wow, It starts 4 threads, it's super fast.
//edit2// I can give it as many cpu cores as I like? :woot:
//edit3// Bought it, fair price, but gonna use the sister site version

Yep :) One of its best features. When I said it's a freaking beast I meant it. Another cool thing is it has really high quality DSP features, like resampling and dithering. Also can be scripted from the command line... one of these tools you can't go back once you try it.

I bet you are now like myself when I discovered it: "Oh, that's cool. Wow, it can do that too? Damn man, that's neat!..."
    Amen

Sound Forge has a batch converter that you can load much of Sound Forge's native processing plus VSTs in to and it will overwrite files as an option.
