I'm looking for a way to play my M-Audio midi keyboard through a DAW, I use Mixcraft, while watching a tutorial on YouTube.
When trying to do so the video won't play on YouTube with the midi running.
I can play the keyboard through my iPhone but it sucks the batt dry in less than 5 min.
Does anyone have a work around for this?

    Thanks much for your help!

Did you try to switch off "Use High Priority..."?

If your system is Windows check the drivers propriety and untick "allow devices to take exclusivity" something like that ...

You can use a multi-client ASIO driver like FL ASIO (real ASIO is single-client, lets you run just one app at a time). Download a trial of FL Studio, install it, and then FL ASIO will show up it in your DAW along with the rest of installed sound drivers. Or Google "multi-client ASIO free."
Multi-client ASIO drivers add a tiny bit of latency, not much tho.

You can try choosing "system sound," "primary sound driver," "speakers" (whatever your DAW calls win audio driver), but that adds too much latency.

this is usually fairly easy to do as @Olymoon points out....

just in case you didn't figure it out yet...

right click the speaker(sound) icon in systray, go to playback and/or recording devices,
highlight the one you are using for your daw, right click, properties, advanced tab, and there you will see ...

    untick, and done

Thank you all for taking the time to offer suggestions!
The one that worked best for me was Blorg's tip of using the FL ASIO.
It was no muss, no fuss.

Thanks again, all the suggestions were much appreciated!
