I fully agree with all you've said ... as you say, for many people nowdays (specially the young ones) freedom is equivalent to steal anything just because it's there to get it.
And forcing the situation is not the better way to change that (as we both would agree i suppose) ... but i fully agree with you that something has to be done/change.

Thank you for your words, as not so many people will be ready to admit what you wisely said and admitted yourself (as well as myself) in the phrase i've quoted above.
I think time has come to start an open, HONEST and calm debate for both parts (the users thieves as well as the corporations thieves) about the so called "we want freedom to steal whatever we want" and "we wont money, money, and more money".

    Kind Regards! :mates:

That is what all this SOPA stuff is all about. If the record companies cannot control what we listen to, they will lose their line of business and their way of life (feeding us whatever is cheapest for them). It is all about control of what the masses listen to. If they are not the only outlet, they are threatened.

I really don't think it is about piracy at all (as in they are losing massive amounts of money). They even put videos on Youtube, themselves. It is about all the talent that is on this planet that 90% of the population are not supposed to hear, since they can't profit from it. The Vinyl/Cassette/CD are basically history now. They were asleep and are now trying to recover or at least regain control. That is what is going on, IMO.

    Hi Mstar (Megastar ? :) )

I agree with all what you're saying ... but allow me to paraphrase your own words to go a little bit far (your words in italic mine in bold face) ...

Hope you don't mind i've done this to your words ... Kind Regards! :mates:

I agree with you on that, but don't you think (as One Reason suggested in between lines) ...

... don't you think that time has come for us to pay what all those who ARE DOING MUCH MORE THAN decent TV shoes, movies, albums, DAWS, AUDIO PLUGINS, APPS, and so on, deserve ?!
Or do you think seriously that those who made Omnisphere, Reaper, Cubase, Live, Reason, Reaktor, and so on, so on don't deserve something more than "thanks" by all their efforts and exclusive dedication to bring all this products we're using for free ?
I think time has come for us, like One Reason wisely said, to be honest with ourselves and others and recognize that in fact we've been doing something ugly with all of them during all this time.

After all, i believe that we can't not demand something to others we, ourselves, are not doing also at the same time.

Of course companies have done many things wrong, but also us are doing something wrong, don't you think so ?
... We (both sides) need only to find a middle way to go on, but overall honesty ... Do you think it will be possible without using the force on one side and revolution on the other ?

The debate has begun, we (both sides) need only a little bit of honesty to find the definitive solution to our problems (ours and theirs)
After all, as someone already dead said long time ago: "You're the World, and the World is You!" - Kind Regards! :mates:

    wow..

good thread with lots of sense spoken from everybody...

for all of this talk about music on the internet....

CD's still sell a lot more than MP3's (in the UK anyway)

Most money is made from live performances and merchandise sales...

Boy Better Know (a UK grime act) sold nearly 40,000 t-shirts in one year yet sold less than a few thousand albums...

    Smart lads...

Look, after you named i went to Spotify to listen to their music, which i'm listening right now. If we don't lose sight that in fact one can have Spotify (or anyother similar services)
in any mobile devices nowadays, meaning that you can listen to the music you like at any time, anywhere ... Could someone here tell me please where's the need for someone
to buy either CDs or MP3, or EVEN DOWNLOAD them ?! ... and the same with movies, books (when someone think its worth to create that service), games and so on.

We all have the future now before our eyes but i guess that we all are blind ... Just thinking out loud

Time to play a little bit "Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast!" ... See you later! - Kind Regards! :mates:

You cant get spotify in your car...

your also making a massive assumption that everyone has all the latest and greatest gadgets...

people seem to think that everything consumed and brought is for the 18-30 demographic...

Over 50's spend more on music than teenagers, my mum still buys Bob Dylan Cd's etc...why

she has a Cd player and in her eyes why does she need to change...

Theres a lot of people like her...in fact most people have no idea about downloading/streaming films or SOPA etc...

    Lets keep it real...

It will come, don't worry for that ...

Nobody needs "greatest gadgets" to have internet nowadays in their mobile devices ... Even the worsest and cheepest mobile phone has internet connection nowadays.
On the other hand perhaps you'll like to know (or not) that i don't have any mobile device ... i own only a home computer, an internet connection and FREE Spotify and
believe me or not, since i have Spotify i have not downloaded any music neither from internet nor capturing songs from Spotify with the well known COMERCIAL tools
(that's anorher story we can talk about if you want) there exist to do it.

I was not talking of some kind of population in concrete, i was talking about us all

Because "The times they are a Changing" perhaps ? ... If she likes Bob Dylan i'm sure that when you explain this discussion to her she will understand (BTW thanks for bringing to me the chance to listen the wonderful cover The Byrds made of this song)

Of course not, why they should worry about when they have their sons, grandsons, nephews, ... (do you want me to continue?) ... that do all this for them ? *yes*

What makes you think we're not keeping it real remix ?

Now i leave you for a while, as i said want to play a little bit Jedi Knight II before we go for dinner ... So, See you later Alligators! - Kind Regards! :mates:

No offence mate but most of your answers made no sense...

all your answers seem to be based on ifs and buts...

Don't worry about offences remix ...
On the other hand you say "most", which to me is not the same as to say "all" ...
So, if you could tell me which have sense and which do not have to you i could give an answer to those which have not.

Oh! i see ... Do you want me to spoonfeed you ?! ... No offence mate but what about your own insights ?!

    Kind Regards! :mates:

    Hi a-new remix!

You said that "most of my answers made no sense", and you also said that your mother likes Bob Dylan.
No offense remix, but have you asked her sometime if she merely likes his music or does she also agree with what some of his songs are talkin' about ?
In other words, does what follows make any sense to you ?

    THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGING
    Bob Dylan (1964)

    Come gather 'round people
    Wherever you roam
    And admit that the waters
    Around you have grown
    And accept it that soon
You'll be drenched to the bone.
    If your time to you
    Is worth savin'
    Then you better start swimmin'
Or you'll sink like a stone
For the times they are a-changin'.

    Come writers and critics
    Who prophesize with your pen
    And keep your eyes wide
    The chance won't come again
    And don't speak too soon
For the wheel's still in spin
    And there's no tellin' who
    That it's namin'.
    For the loser now
    Will be later to win
For the times they are a-changin'.

    Come senators, congressmen
    Please heed the call
    Don't stand in the doorway
    Don't block up the hall
    For he that gets hurt
Will be he who has stalled
    There's a battle outside
    And it is ragin'.
    It'll soon shake your windows
    And rattle your walls
For the times they are a-changin'.

    Come mothers and fathers
    Throughout the land
    And don't criticize
    What you can't understand
    Your sons and your daughters
    Are beyond your command
    Your old road is
    Rapidly agin'.
Please get out of the new one
If you can't lend your hand
For the times they are a-changin'.

    The line it is drawn
    The curse it is cast
    The slow one now
    Will later be fast
    As the present now
    Will later be past
    The order is
    Rapidly fadin'.
    And the first one now
    Will later be last
For the times they are a-changin'.

Listening to Dolly Parton now in Spotify ... mmm! what a wonderful voice! ... Goodnight to you all! - Kind Regards! :mates:

I'm very sorry remix, but i'm afraid that i can't get what you mean here me being not and english speaker but an spanish one.
And despite i've tried to find how to translate "odd man" into spanish (with the help of inernet) i will not reply you until i'm not completely sure of what you mean (i don't want to make a mistake).

So, if you could put the same with other words or someone here that knows well spanish and english languages could give me a helping hand on that, i will be very grateful.

Much thanks in advance! ... Kind regards! :mates:

I though it would be something like that (i had found "strange man (hombre extraño)" or "rare man (hombre raro)" but i was not sure.

But please tell me, why do you think i'm an odd-man remix ? ... just curious! *yes*
