Of these, which should I go for?

I DJ mostly at home for enjoyment but do play the odd gig. I would like something familiar so I can pretty seamlessly switch between my home practice setup and a venue/club setup. I am a previous Serato DJ Pro user, but have recently used Rekordbox a fair bit and prefer it to Serato DJ Pro as it seems to fit my style and flow better. However, I do also like the look of that Prime 4 and the Denon Engine software, which is throwing a spanner in the works

I DJ mostly techno, tech house, deep house type of stuff, but every now and again may stray into a D&B set or a truly random and eclectic set that could include anything and everything. I don't scratch....at all. I ain't that kind of DJ However, I did learn on Numark belt driven vinyl decks back in about 1998, before the purists come-a-slammin'

Any thoughts, views, opinions, experiences etc would be gratefully appreciated as I'm now looking to up my game by upgrading equipment from my Numark NVII decks and Serato DJ Pro to something more enthusiastic hobbyist/prosumer kind of level (and I know I could gig with the Numark NVII and Serato DJ Pro, just most places have in-house Pioneer setups, forcing me to prep songs in Rekordbox on a USB stick anyway, so thinking may as well fully convert maybe)...

 

Pioneer DDJ 1000 user here (with DVS enable). The Denon is "ok" but far from worth the money. The RX2 sadly is only 2 channels.
The DDJ 1000 will give you the "club experience" and this is why I've chosen it to have at home, as I play with the full Pioneer DJ professional setup in Clubs CDJ 3000, 2000 Nexus, DJM 900...

But remember that your Numark NVII is still a very capable machine and it's also very good. Try to use it with the newest Virtual DJ.

anyway, just go with the Pioneer (for all the reasons that you noted yourself..). I'd take the 1000 as the rx2 is just more expensive, but still a toy compared to the real thing.

 

I know it's not mentioned in your list - probably with a reason - but I went from XDJ-RX2 to XDJ-XZ when it was just released and looking back it was the best decision I could made. If there's any club set-up emulation available for an 'affordable' price, that's the one. The 4 channels option wasn't my main reason at all because I still mostly use 2 of them but the big(ger) jog wheels and jog adjust - way more heavy, comparable to what Technics did with their turntables back in the day, compared to other brands (only Vestax came close to my opinion) - definitely are. The RX2 was just not for me, I really missed the feeling between them and a club set-up. Serato is also implemented in the XZ btw. Rekordbox speaks for itself obviously. Conclusion: it's more expensive but the improvements towards the RX2 are - for me at least - worth it. And don't forget, CDJ 3000's will be the new standards I presume so I wouldn't rely too much on Denon in that case. But I have to admit, I was always a Pioneer dj after my vinyl years with Technics so I might be a bit prejudiced. Anyway, just my thoughts about new dj gear in 2021.

The DDJ-1000 is kind of where I'm at at the moment, bt was putting some feelers our for opinions and thoughts first!

 

I had been looking (and drooling) as the DDJ-XZ too, but probs a bit too much of a budget stretch to justify it for me and my needs

....otherwise it looks perfect, despite, like you, that I mostly only use 2 decks and have 4 channels on the mixer isn't an essential for me.

 

I actually bought a RX2 this week. I don't have any other decks or turntables so I didn't really need the XZ as I have a mixer and a pair CDJ900 Nexus already in another location so this was for remote mixing only so thought I'd save myself the 500 quid. Great build quality and really happy with the purchase.
