I was considering using Spitfire Percussion Redux.

Anyone has experience with this one?

If not, can you suggest anything similar?

    Hello,

I've heard really good things about it. I use the Spitfire Albion trilogy, which is a shortened version of each ensemble, and even that works really well for me. So I guess the full percussion ensemble must be awesome. Spitfire make fantastic products.

There is also a discussion here:

    http://audiosex.pro/index.php?/topic/11036-perfect-orchestra-library-of-choice/

about the perfect orchestra mix. It might help you decide as well.

    Good luck mate.

Even if I'm not planning to buy it I was humbly requesting the opinion of the other members of this forum (thanks a lot Demon), otherwise what's the point of a community of users sharing the same interest?

Therefore your question of buying it or not doesn't make much sense to me.

    Hi Mr Psanter,
there's only one orchestral perc lib you should get, and it's Spitfire Percussion Redux.
Have tried most if not all available, but this one is clear winner. Well worth the HDD space! :mates:

Albions contains only few fragments of percussion, here and there,
    Albion 1 - Cyms, Gongs
    Albion 2 - Toms
    Albion 3 - Taiko

Percussion REDUX is the complete package, with Mallets, Timpani and more.
HZ01 is not its replacement, it's just unusual combinations (ensembles) or recorded in a different way *yes*

    Thanks Andrew,
I also heard that HZ01 is more than 200 GB on the HDD, is that true?

I've had a lot of success with ProjectSAM's True Strike 1, which is essential if you also use Symphobia 1 and or 2 (they were recorded in the same space with the same close/far mic configuration). I don't need the fancy exotic percussion, but I understand True Strike 2 offers plenty of that. Then, I cheat like hell and use Epic Drums (1, since they just released 2) for complex percussion loop lines -- it actually manages to fit in pretty well with True Strike 1, especially if you add some Altiverb and turn off the early reflections. It also adds all the "exotic" percussion I don't add with the orchestral stuff in True Strike 1.

After a cleaning loop for 6 months I am cleaning my kontakt libs, starting from percussions(again).
There are real shit in kontakt (I always clean Kontakt) but major libs and some obscure have something that others do not have.
In the past I had 9GB of kontakt, now I have 3 and dorping.
The main problem are libs with nkx that you have to resave only the patches you like.
There are many comparatives here between FXs and VSTis but in the end all is personal.
Some have only good loops (that I always transfer to my applelopps diretory [yes almost every kontakt lib have metadata  ] like the 8dio series, others good acoustic like CinemaSamples, others everything like Spittfire. But if you are a perfectionist like me you will test the obscure ones that can have a bestial surprise...
Sometime I feel stupid for testing all but it make your choices clean when compose, and of course you can clean A LOT your hds, and backups will be a breeze.
In the land of the numbers colors are a personal choice because we do not have the real inteligence/time to qualifie all the felings that we have of the colours.
Well, taste, test, need and compare are the tolls of muusic evolution, dont you think? :dunno:

I heard it's amazing but the only problem might be its size on the HDD...

even if it big (68 GB) on HDD but believe ME , you will find it useful
u have to make space for it
u may find a lot of stuff that occupy your hard drive and u don't use it (do some cleaning and you will make space for it)
it's the best library i ever heard of
beside u can do some research on ProjectSAM Libraries (True Strike 1 & 2) it only 14 GB

PS :: you can do something you can buy hardware synth , and delet all synth libraries or u can buy new PC OR MAC (this is the ONLY 2 OPTION TO USE HZ Percussion)

Thanks Mr_Amine, but from their website I read it's much bigger than 60 GB:
"200GB+ OF DATA FROM 10k+ OF SAMPLES"
