I actually meant to put up this topic a long time ago. Is your password a word in the dictionary...please tell me it isn't. Are you using short passwords so you can remember them all or even worse are you using the same password everywhere? :wow:

In the 21st century a password manager should be utilized by every man, woman and child that uses a computer...period. You get the convenience of not having to deal with annoying situations like having to remember a million passwords for a million accounts. Then besides the convenience factor you are also encouraged to create stronger passwords this way and that translates to less problems. In Roboform you can even have it generate passwords to certain criteria you set like max length and whether to use letters and/or numbers and/or symbols. You can even have it on a USB drive so you always have them when you're on the go. Please if you don't use one, get one.

    So use either:
Paid (but I'm sure you can get it free)
    AI Roboform

    1Password

    Freeware
    LastPass

There are many more but I've got 2 forums to manage and we just relaunched one of them.

I used to use a password manager. ... but got a root kit virus lock me out of it. ..

Something about "having all your eggs in one basket"

    Springs to mind. .:D

But yeah it's something to consider. .

Keep a backup on a USB drive of all your passwords. Also if you have the feature such as if you're using Windows 8 there is something called SecureBoot which checks the OS before it loads to prevent rootkit viruses. We also have many threads here on matters of security, read them and you shouldn't have any problems. I was running XP for 8 years with not a single virus, the hardware died before the software did. :wow:

Only ever had one bad experience with a rootkit virus, it slowly destroyed windows and corrupted every file over a couple of days, moral of the story is, make sure you buy your son his own puter so he doesn't feck yours up :excl: :snuffy:
