His music, the musicians that played in "The Ozzy Osbourne Band" (I actually did not know that was the official name, woah), like for many others, had a lot of influence on me as a musician. Black Sabbath's early music was like the building blocks of my metal guitar playing journey. Ozzy was there throughout that journey.

Eventually, Osbourne borrowed some money from his father and bought a microphone and a 50-watt amplifier. He placed an ad in a local music store under his new stage name "Ozzy Zig," and bassist Terry "Geezer" Butler contacted him. Guitarist Tony Iommi and his friend Bill Ward also saw the ad, as they were looking for a singer. After some negotiations, they formed the Polka Tulk Blues Band in 1968, which originally consisted of two other members.

However, since these other two did not fit in with the band, the group disbanded under false pretenses and reformed as a four-piece under the name Earth. In 1969, they changed their name to Black Sabbath.

 

I never really watched The Osbournes that much, so I missed this: Ozzy playing the ARP 2600.

Pure gold.

 

2002 Live at Budokan DvD is absolutely incredible if anyone is looking to pay a tribute, its floating around, I'd link a youtube vid but the quality doesn't do the prince justice.

RIP Ozzy, fucking legendary run... to think what the world would be like if he never walked it.
