    Hi guys

the faders in the mixer are the mess,
violins, drums, choirs are not in the good order .

I would like to organize the faders for a better workflow

I tried things but nothing works,
I don't want to remove instruments then reload them in good order ...

do u know if there is a method ? I wish we can just drag the faders to the right positions

    thank u

Create folder for each instruments/audio type and divide them by colors, you should have a better organised mixer
I usually divide kicks, instruments, bass, leads in folder and each one have its own color and my mixer is organised

    @ Toshfox,

:dunno: I think that you want rather to talk about the 'Channel Strips' or 'Tracks' of your Project(s), isn't ?

...and yet, it would be a very good solution ! *yes*
because this way, you may be able to 'rename' each 'Channel Strip' or 'Track' exactly as you want (need), then simply make the best placement at your opinion to get the best workflow that will suit you...

    _________________________________________________________________________

 As it can be found on some 'FL Studio' Projects here and there... *yes*

    What DAW are you using?
I find it surprising you can't reorder your tracks.

But if thats not an option create a heap of bus / return tracks in the order you want and send each track to it's own bus and mix from there.

    and colour code everything.

EDIT: and make a few project templates to make life easier from now on

thanks for your help; my tracks are already in folders, but maybe i should try again to put them in folders

all my instruments tracks are from kontakt plugins like one kontakt with strings instruments, one kontakt with percussion instruments ... and more
for each instrument loaded in the kontakt, i assign an audio output in the mixer, but sometimes I change mind or add instruments, so that's the reason why it's messy
the order respects the moment i opened them, chronologically .

I will try what you said again

thanks studio555, i had started to do it, clean setup, by removing each audio output and recreate them but the daw didnt like that, some tracks don't work anymore for some reason
And seen how I work, it will be messy again coz i can change mind ( as explained above)

we are on "studio one" thread, so i use studio one :p
    thanks for your help

    thanks guys for your help,
Let me check again my project and see your solutions , and maybe i missed something

    keep u posted

    @ Toshfox,

Maybe this is due to some 'Aux' or 'Sends' Setups/Configurations that are done within your Project(s) in its initial Form ? :dunno: So check this point too... *yes*

By the way, perhaps a 'Snapshot' ('Image') of one of your Project(s) that you want to re-organize can greatly help us to see (understand) it in its initial Form, then we can, perhaps, help you in better ways... *yes*

    yes

I have removed the folders, and tried to change the order of tracks in the project panel, sometimes it does move the channel strip, but not at the expected position

I think it's kontakt which make the mess

Nothing works and when it does something, it's not what i want lol

    Grouping in folders doesn't work
deplacing the tracks in the project , same ...

but unselecting then reselecting the instruments here :

I can order the channel strips, the consequence is : losing the automation ( not for all tracks, no idea why lol ) and i have to pan/volume them again

    anyway, thank u guys

I'm a big believer in using tools that your comfortable with because you learn all the tricks progressively, but is it time for a change to a different DAW?
I switched from Acid Pro, which I did like at the time, to Ableton Live and haven't looked back.

As I said before I've never used Studio One, so is there anything it offers that you can't get from something else
It may not be as big an issue as it seems to me, but I seem to be constantly adding and deleting tracks, reordering and grouping them when I'm building the track.
Not being able to do that would really hamper me.

btw, I realise this in no way helps you with retaining the automation in the project your currently working on,
    just a thought

Bro, if we change the daw everytime we face a problem, you'll ending up by switching daw every 2 days

Mixer channel order is related to track position in the arrange view

if you need to delete and add tracks everytime you are doing something wrong

Guys since i've asked this few times i'll make a video on how to organize multioutput track

    yes it should be

    Not in my project.
but it's kontakt ; that's different with the fact that in my project, one kontakt = many instruments (patches) = many audio outputs = many channel strips

example : 1 kontakt for high violins, low violins, trem = 3 audio outputs ( = 3 channel strips)

It doesn't add ( of course) a track in the arrange view after loading the instruments in kontakt
so to get the sound of the loaded patch , we have to create an audio ouput in kontakt first then activate it in the mixer
By activating it, it adds the channel strips ( and not by creating the track in the arrange view)

if the tracks were audio tracks or single instrument tracks, it wouldn't be the mess

the solution would be to open one kontakt plugin for one instrument , but it would use more cpu or memory.

EDIT : let me check the video :)

    thank u

    EDIT :

Grrrr i think there is a bug, after selecting the channel strip, I can't drag the channel strip in the mixer
it highlights it, but i can't move it ...
i will reinstall StudioOne, coz i got other problems...
if we think about it, if i could do it, i wouldn't even post message here to ask help ...

    thank u again guys
and thanks for the video MostWest

i've tried it with only 2 instruments, in your case try to deselect all outputs

remember that everytime you remove an output you will lost the plugins in the chain, save it first before doing it
