    Hi !

That's cool and well done ! You have a real sense of the melodies, everything and notes are right where it belongs ! (Only few little awkward stuff on Shadows but this was your first !)

I'm myself musician but more into rock stuff, I'm interested in music movies but don't really know what to use you think it's possible to have a list of what you use ? Thanks :)

    Glad you like it. :mates:

Alright, here's the software I used in "A Hint of Adventure":
    • Cubase 5
    • AudioBro - LA Scoring Strings
    • Vir2 - Elite Orchestral Percussion
    • Native Instruments - Kontakt 4
The other peace was made entirely with the instruments that came with the Kontakt 4 Content.

As for the instruments, I used almost every instrument of an early romantic orchestra. The two peaces are approx. a year old, so here's a (maybe incomplete) list of instruments I can still identify by ear:
    • Piccolo
    • Flute
    • Oboe
    • Clarinet
    • Bassoon
    • Horn
    • Trumpet
    • Trombone
    • Tuba
    • Timpani
    • Snare Drum
    • Glockenspiel
    • Strings
Oh, and a choir in the Shadow Peace.

Hope this helps. Otherwise ask again. *yes*

How long have you been at it now? I can hear you have listened well to what you hear in the movies and I agree with Jessycd, your sense of melody and harmony is pretty solid. Good job.

Thanks. I started about a year ago with "Shadows in the Streets". First, I was playing around with classical instruments using Cubase and within a few days the piece evolved into it's final shape.

With "A Hint of Adventure" i tried a different approach: The whole peace was written using Sibelius (yes, actual notes) and then exported (MIDI) and imported in Cubase. That's where the fun with the instruments began. I changed alot of the composition during this stage but also learned very much about "compatible" instruments etc.
So basically I have no real composer background apart from a little theory about harmonics from the piano lessons back in my teenie-time. *yes*

    Very nice work!
Actually, I like more shadows in the street.
Don't know exactly why, but I think it's more 'creative' to me.

Hope you enjoy doing that, and keep doing it for a looooong time, 'cause you seem very talented!

Thanks for the feedback so far. I am really glad you guys like my music.

The reason I posted this here was not to show off, but to get some criticism. So please, don't hold back any rude annotations.

    Exakt!

as a hint for improvement I'd say you should concentrate a little more on the stereo positioning of the several instruments (groups) and finding out how to add a bit more body to the lower regions, for a more authentical orchestra feel regarding the dynamic range...

but all in all criticism on a higher level => Great job! Danke für's Teilen!

As for stereo positioning, that is indeed something to be aware of. But all good orchestra libraries will have the correct positioning for their instruments so it's best not to tweak those. If you add other instruments then adjust those to your orchestra.
