i counted all items in a column and presented them in pivot table something like this...basically it shows me how many of each color

    Yellow Blue Red
    10...... 5..... 3

but i can't figure out how to rearrange it in increasing number

    so red would be first

    Red Blue Yellow
    3 .... 5.... 10

    in openoffice please thanks!!

it should be like sort by ascending.... if you uncheck the boxes and recheck them in opposite order it will pivot the values from x to Y etc. your numeric result is already a countif formula?
at that point, the "colors" don't matter. that can be either a conditional format <=>, or some other formula's result.

if i paste the values out of the pivot table...then i don't know how to tell it to make the numbers ascending but also put the colors in correct order

you don't take the values out of the pivot. or that defeats your purpose in using one.

you unpivot the data. then re pivot it with the columns and rows rearranged. drag the fields until they are arranged, and you can click down selections to change sumif to etc..

these are boring. you should learn vlookup =)
