Just thought someone might be interested.
This is one beast of a synth, one of the best analogue emulations.
    Instead of 179$,only 85$.

OB-X Pro never convinced me and when I listen to Dexed, it has nothing to do with my TX7, or it relies on mp4-conversion on Youtube. I guess it's the same with DX7 and FM8. No patch comes nearly close to the original.

Its funny, most say fm7 and fm8 sound the same,i hear a big difference.
Also fm7 comes very, very close to dx7,there are several video comparisons, though i prefer the original, but fm works just as nice.
Also Ally James makes powerful synths, thats my next buy.

Yes of course, Ally James is an exception. I know no other emulation stuff coming so close to it's original sound.
Could we run FM7 and FM8 in parallel?

  8. I was in Sam Ash in NY in in 1987 looking to buy a DX7 as my first synth. There was a fellow there that talked me into buying an Ensoniq ESQ-1 because of the sequencer. I bought the Ensoniq and was happy with it. I wish I still had it. It is still probably in the loft of my ex-girlfriends barn in rural Pennsylvania.

Yes you can.Though fm7 is 32bit only so just use the steinberg vst bridge or jbridge.

How analog emulations are different from serum/spire etc?
don't you guys think that sounds that op-x II can generate, can be also synthesized in serum/spire/massive etc?
Or it's just we can get nice sounds easily when using hardware emulations?

Its not possible to generate similar sounds with those synths,as they serve its purpose differently.
Maybe you can get close with certain sounds, but as a whole you just need a different synth.
    Each serves its purpose.

Great emulations of synthesizers are as good as 4k videos of Sasha grey, compared to the real thing :p

Nice emulation sure......Ive got a copy and run it here or there depending on my mood.......But i think the price drop is kinda indicative!
Its underated, And is lacking in terms of many of the modulatory functions etc weve all become accustomed to, But that said it is not supposed to have a billion modulation slots etc etc...
Not slating the vst itself coz i understand why its the way it is....

Also as far as im aware fm8 and fm7 share an identical synthesis engine....
The only real difference and reason patches will sound different is there isnt the fx matrix in fm7....

  16. Really, close to my ears, with the Oberheim just so nice and warm and totally sexy sounding. The OP-X PRO II has more a rasp going on, it's just not as smooth sounding.

OPX Pro II is really something special to my ears. I took advantage of the long going sale (I bought it on sale a couple of months ago).
Others have that analogue sound, but OP is about that one, and it is one of the best analogue emulation out there. The interface is horrible, and you have to carefully decipher the manual to really use that thing, half of the usefull tricks are burried, but the sound is gorgeous, there is a warmth, a thickness in the sound that only "analogue" produces. With or without the filter. The way you can tweak the manner the different voices slightly differ from each others on every aspects is quiet incredible (Diva is also cool on that aspect, SynthX2 offers more with its independant layers). Doing that with an emulation is something extraordinary, we're very lucky to have access to those great synths. Spire, zebra, serum or synthmaster2 or Massive (I use most of these) can't get there in the box. No way. You might get close by working very hard with various vstfxs (soundtoys, fxpansion, slate) with an anlogue feel. But you can't get there in the box, not that degree of perfection, it's not the strenght of those great synths, who offer things that vintage emulation synths on there side cannot achieve (wavetables and all that goodness).
And OPX Pro II has a load of great presets, even starting point presets for sound design, it's a great buy.

The more i demo Arturia the more i find it flat.
Loaded up opx and suddenly i could quickly get the desired sound.
Fatness is missing in most arturia synths, even fm7 is more advanced in this department.
