1 in the U.S, but 4 in the U.K top 10. Although they weren't Synth-pop though, but New Wave. No synths in this band

Funny you should say that but................
A band called Tight Fit did a cover of this track in 1982. It went to No 1 in the U.K selling over a million copies. Not really Synth-pop though, even if they did use keyboards.
Here's one that is and I'll think you'll like the video too

 

@foster911 As you like Gary Numan, I'd imagine you'll like this track. It's a bit darker than any of the other one's I've posted.

O.K. A little quiz for ya. Gary Numan track From 1985. What is the 80's movie that is sampled in this track.
Don't say what the movie is yet, but how far in the video was before you knew.

From Nik Kershaw I only remember one hit - and I didn't like it because the synths sounded slightly off. There were probably detuned on purpose, but maybe I wasn't ready for it yet^^

Here's THE classic (thanks to the movie)! You just needed to find a girl that saw the movie, turn on this song and voilà - the blouse opened like magic

Totally! I read somewhere in the Youtube comments "I miss the 80s. I was young and had dreams." And that's probably it. Everything was possible (so we thought). And I'm pretty sure, today's late teens think exactly the same. And they will also look back in 2046 and say: "It was another world!"

Which reminds me of a novel I wrote back then. It was a sci-fi that took place in 2047. But I'm afraid, when looking at 2016, that 30 years are not enough to make all the things I was writing about a reality (a mars colony; spaceships so cheap, almost everyone who wants to make a living as a freighter captain can afford them; real working cryogenic, cancer cure - and hopefully not happening: the third world war)
