R2R witches report about AudioThing new protection system for GongAmp which reminds the infamous Tone2 Markus copy protection inadequacy

licenses in the computers.
* Checks first 0x1000 bytes of plugin
and find ".R2R" to detect injected

* Many license file deletion functions.
* Add "*" to the end of the license
file. Plugin doesn't work correctly
once that character is added.
* Changed the protection to disable
previous trick of public key
injection.
* Has different extra protections
by VST/VST3/AAX platforms.

Audiority and AudioThing are trying
to become new Tone2 in 2022 :O

 

Don't they realise that doing this is just making them lose potential customers, while piracy actually BRING them potential customers??? In which world do these people live in?
I'm talking in general, but why not lower the price a bit, offer a nice demo, and get rid of demented protection schemes?

 

They do realize an R2R release will give them exposure. That's why they put "Gong" right in the Name, so they would know to crack it.

 

May i ask you, where you got that text from?
I looked on SiSi, but i only found VR Releases from that developer.
Is it from an actual AudioThing Release i eventually missed?

 

I wonder why all the R2R Audiothing releases have been taken down from the sister site, whereas all the VR releases remain available? Is it that Audiothing don't care about the VR releases?

On the SiSi there is a link to a befriended Site, a software archive.
There one could start a search for "gong" and might find sth helpful.

If they only knew, minus a select few "big boys", I've mainly viewed plugins or software that has been cracked as "worth cracking", or worth my time. My feeling has always been, if its not cracked, not constantly talked about or requested, its probably not worth caring about. I can't tell you how many developers I lusted over after getting some of their plugins on here, and then ended up buying more that hadn't been cracked because I couldn't wait.

Softube, Empircal Labs, SoundToys, Plugin Alliance, PreSonus.. I've ended up forking over money I never would have forked over had it not been for having other cracked plugins from them.

Hell, I would have never viewed StudioOne as a remote possibility for my time had it not ended up on here, and now I willingly pay monthly, even though its regularly updated on the sister site. Oh, and Reason- I would forget it existed for more than a decade because it couldn't be cracked. My feeling was, if its not cracked, if I don't see a ton of tutorials, than no one is using it. I bet Reason see's a resurgence in YouTube tutorials as a result, and it increases paid users exponentially.

When a developer tries so hard to protect their products, not realizing that it doesn't even matter cause in the end everything can get cracked....plus more people know about their products and that means more sales... :face_palm:
