    Hey guys,
I have been following this community for the last couple of weeks - new to producing and have been spending all my free time trying to learn all of this stuff - it can get overwhelming. First, i just want to thank everyone in this community, because there is no way that I would be at this point without all the helpful people that participate in this forum.

Here is my issue: I have been trying to install omnisphere 2 (with trilian and moog) for the last couple of days, and it has definitely been a challenge. Unfortunately, at this time, I don't have the luxury of working with a store bought version of the software (although I fully intend to in the not so distant future). So, after about 30 hours of headaches trying to install Omnisphere, I finally get version 1.5.8d going. When I play with it in logic, there are certain patches missing or corrupted. (doing research I see there are many people with similar issues).

Supposedly, if you already have Omnisphere installed, it is supposed to be very easy to update to Omnisphere 2 (the version that includes Moog and Trillian).. I am reading in some places that it is easy as hitting the "check for updates" button within the plug in itself. My main concern though, (not working with a legitimate version) -- if I do that and download some sort of patch, I am wondering if it will install something that will disable the omnisphere that i have installed now. A little bit nervous about undoing all of my hard work.

I am hoping one of you guys could give me some ideas on the best strategy for mac os x el capitan to get from omni 1.5.8d to the newest version that is included with trillian.. Thank you in advance!

Thank you Plomerus for helping me through this..

I downloaded a 6 part dvd and installed the iso's in order. Opened Omni in logic, ran the keygen, closed it and opened it again.. it asked for me to point it to my steam folder.. Then, I created an alias for the steam folder (in app support).. Copied the steam folder to my external. Trashed the steam folder on my drive to make more room. Opened logic and pointed omnisphere to the steam folder on my external.. and it was working -- except for a few patches not loading.

So,let me just make sure I have this right.. Disk 1 from R2R because dynamics was corrupt. 2-8 from dynamics.. and then a seperate download for the patch.. Step 3 you say is optional for Trillian users.. So i am taking that to mean, it is not an option for me because I have not downloaded the older versions of Trillian yet.. The Steam folder is 40gb on my external, with an alias version in my application support file.. When i download these installers, will it add 40 plus gb on top of what I alraedy have stored in my hard drive, or will the new version be integrated with the old version and share some of those 40gb from the older version..

it is reading my steam folder now, but when i try to install it says "insufficient disk space 56,888 mb needed" my ext has at least 160 gb free.. it then starts to install and warns that progress will be slow at first.. could take 5 hours.. i come back 2 hours later and it appears it has not moved.. im wondering if the insufficient disk space has prevented anything from installing.. :O(
