Hello, today I was downloading a crack for Omnisphere 2 and every time I open the program I get the error "STEAM folder not found. Would you like to locate it?", what should I do?

 

Locate it! Just use your search, when you find it point omnisphere at it. IIRC it should default to be under your omnisphere directory in c:\programs\spectrasonics\omnisphere\STEAM but I may be misremembering. Presumably though for some reason it isn't or else it would just find it automatically.

 

create a shortcut in program data / spectrasonics, i take it you dl the steam data?
mine is this E:STEAM when you click it it takes you to the steam data if its on your main drive or ext drive, hope this helps.

 

Yeah, if you just downloaded the main program and not the gigs and gigs of data... there's yer problem

 

Also keep in mind that the scene releases of spectrasonics stuff requires that interim updates be applied in order before going on to the next release version.

Well, unfortunately it's not that simple, after selecting the Steam folder an error pops up that it's not the correct folder and so on. I think I may have an incomplete steam folder

 

the Omnisphere Steam folder is well over 50 gig of data (on Mac,anyway). It should be close to that. What is the size of your Steam folder? There should be a folder Omnisphere inside your Steam folder.

You should be able to select just Steam, but if it doesn't work look inside your Steam folder and try the Omnisphere folder. You have to click the directory Omnisphere wants selected, but do not go into the folder.

This is the tipoff to that fact. You probably just downloaded the newest update release. You need the entire original installation files for Omnisphere 2.0. After that, you can install the newest update. You do not need to install all the ones in between. First and last only.
The comment above saying you need to progressively update with all versions is wrong. Omnisphere is v 2.0 only, then newest. Others might not be, but that is not relevant to Omnisphere.

You need v2.0. They were called "DVDR" 1-3, or something. That is for the entire program as if you had bought it in a box. You install the complete V2.0 installer, and then install the newest update version you have available on pc. The most recent version is 2.8.

I looked and the original v2.0 VSTi release was from the group Dynamics, same as Mac.

 

yes correct, but i think 1 dvdr was R2R for some reason

 

You must make sure that the STEAM folder is the same as the version your using.

STEAM folders are interchangable provided its the same as the version of omnisphere your using
If not you will get an error and have to update prior to authorisation but its absolutley VITAL to do a clean reinstall or it still wont run

If youve a cracked install then it should be around 50gb and id advise that you copy or move the STEAM folder to an extarnal ssd or similar prior to authorisation

Its sometimes a pain for people that dont realise the idiosynchronisities omni installations can have

It really is as simple as Pointing Omni to the location where you put the steam folder

If youve thought it would just install and off you go your wrong
When you do have it located theres a possible issue where you have to turn the write protection off and perhaps modify the drives administrative functions

Yep, to fix an issue "Previous release by other group contains bad ripped ISO image..." It's a relatively long technical note in the nfo. Too bad it won't unrar itself.
