Are we there yet??

 

For anyone in the USA thinking about buying Omnisphere 2.... and doesn't own Omnisphere 1

You can currently, as of Apr 17th 2015, buy Omnisphere 1 from Sam Ash for $399 (instead of $479) and get a free upgrade to Omnisphere 2 which will sell for $499 therefore saving you $100

 

Hmmm... Curious how they plan to handle this...

 

They seem to go out of stock temporarily every so often but then within a few days it's back in stock.... One of my clients ordered it a few days ago and he just got a confirmation mail saying they they are shipping it on Monday so I wouldn't be too concerned..

 

Stock??? its SOFTware??

i couldn't hold out so i just renamed Omnisphere to Omnisphere 2

 

Well, in this case, its a box with DVDs and a small printed guide...... because Omni was originally released so long ago..

They still did things that way, back then!

As expected and beyond....

Big problems with not only downloading (server problems/site going down, etc.) but with the update install as well....

From a well respected member of another forum:

"Oh my lord, this is a mess.

Strongly advise - DO NOT UPGRADE JUST YET. There's something screwed with the installer process, asking to insert a disc, which of course doesn't exist. You have to cancel out, and Omni carries on installing. You can authorize, but there's no new data.

You can't seem to load any new Omni 2 patches, but here's the kicker - it breaks Omni 1 stuff. Just no sound, nada. I think the whole install is screwy.

I have to say, I'm surprised at this - how can this happen after all the testing and wait? Hopefully there will be a quick fix, need Omni 1 for a session tomorrow at least. Worst case I guess I can re install omni 1 (or can I?)"

 

Try moving the folders to the desktop and then executing. See if that helps.

I just added some commentary from another forum in my above post.

Personally, I did not purchase Omni 1 with the Omni 2 upgrade. I decided to wait for the FULL Omni 2 to hit the streets, which according to my Sweetwater rep will happen next week.
I'm glad I waited. People are freaking the fuck out attempting to install the upgrade.

Surprisingly, it would appear that Spectrasonics shit the bed on this one.

 

Some updated info:

"On the website in your account, you get a small installer that does the plugin and - in theory - the data. The data part doesn't seem to work, at least in Windows. However, in your order confirmation email, you get a tiny tiny link to the Upgrade Download Manager - this link doesn't seem to exist anywhere else, only in that email. It asks for a location, without telling you what it is actually going to do - I pointed it at the STEAM folder, but it turns out its actually another installer itself. So once done, I'll move it, run it and install it into STEAM.

Hopefully the earlier bad install hasn't buggered anything up, and this will fix all the broken stuff. I think what must have happened is that disk installers have been put up on the website, instead of the correct download ones."


And again....the Spectrasonics site is DOWN.



And on the MAC side of things:

"This is a mess. I'm on Mac and my confirmation email had no link to update the installer. No link to anything at all. I downloaded the installers from my account and the first one gets stuck here:

I even tried inserting my original Omnisphere disc 1, but that doesn't help."

 

Yeah it was clear it was gonna be sheer madness.

The full Omni 2 is the way to go.

 

People are completing it slowly but surely now.
