I'm finally getting around to installing Omni 2.0 - I think I put it off so long because I was still traumatized by the nightmare of installing and troubleshooting Omni 1 and Trilian (iMac 3.5 GHz i7 16 Gb OSX 10.9.4). So before I take this on, I'm wondering:

    - do I leave the complete 50 Gb of Omni 1 libs/extensions in the STEAM folder and just install over it? Does the v2 installer remove files that are no longer necessary? Any chance it will mess with Trilian?

    - I'm using the release posted by Sunny last June 15. The rars total about 6.7 Gb. I realize the libs are probably compressed with a newer more efficient algorithm, but I can't help but wonder if it's complete - the v1 lib, even without extensions, is over 40 Gb.

    - is there anything else I need to be wary of? I'm usually pretty resourceful in getting through install and verification issues, but.....is this going to kill me?

Much obliged as always for any assistance.

  4. My Omnisphere2 should be delivered by DHL courier today sometime. I hope that I will not have a nightmare installing it.

i use legit Omni and it took me abt 3 hrs with DVD edition. In case of DVDs not readable (happened several times) i found out it was better to rip them as ISO and then use the mounted virtual DVD. Depends all to your DVD/BlueRay Drive.
Watch PluginGurus Tutorial Videos while installing... the more i work with Omni, the more i understand how complex this Plugin is. I didnt reget 1 $ i invested. But without PluginGuru i would have been lost, so i ordered also his Airwave pack, to support him.

    and then watch this

  6. I have the "thumbnail version", sans DVDs. My great question is, after I register at the Spectrasonics website as a customer, do I have to go online with my production computer? I never do that nor do I wish to start now. I guess I could ask Cav Emp as I am following in his footsteps with the Omnisphere, following his lead.

no, not necessary, i only went into my account again to install Omni on my Laptop. Afaik its possible to install /activate to 3-5 different PCs. And then just write an email. For Instance i installed new OS on a new partition.
Btw. even the USB will take some time,
1st transfer is slow and 2nd it needs to be "unzipped".
my actual OMNI2 directory is abt 59GB

Omni 2 will update the Steam folder and use that, the reason the rars are obnly 6.7 gb is that's just the new stuff, it will still need all of the Omni1 Steam folder :)

  9. It is taking a really long time to install this baby. I think I'll go climb Mt. Everest. Buy the time I get back it should be finished with part 1.

Its my fav synth by a LONG way, but if it cant recall a preset when u open a project it's pretty much useless until lthat is fixed isnt it?

I'm in 2.1d and the issue seems to be resolved. I can recall presets.

yes , I can too..most of the time.. then open same thing one more time.. and bam... gone.

It's not an every time bug and if the issue had been fixed im positive there would be a looong thread about it.

    https://audiosex.pro/threads/problems-omnisphere-2-not-saving-patches.19429/

Until theres some definitive fix I wouldnt put much faith in being able to recall ur project presets EVERY time... especially if this is 'work' for you.

For now, I've stopped using it even though previous to 2.0 it was THE first thing i loaded up, every project.

Same Liib here. and yes, i thought i wasn't having problems too.. until the time that i DID.. and other times since.

So yes, you may get lucky a bunch of times as i did.. until i got mugged. lol

I'll substitute something else until its definitively fixed and sorry to be a bummer to those upgrading but you have been forewarned,

..and blv me.. I probably want this fixed more than anyone using it, its my Go to software.

Just write the patch name in the notes area if your DAW has that. you can then easily recall a lost patch not loaded at start of project.
Documentation is one of the most common things overlooked in home studios. I know it is really anal but can be necessary for larger projects.

superliquid, now u know why i added the tutorials links, yes it takes very long to install.

i have no issues with saving patches or multis neither in Cubase nor in Reaper 5.
But its annyoing to have all the database keywords filled in in the 4 database field ( the "red" ones).
    Its a legit one.
