Maybe fatigue has just finally set in after all the extra innings.

 

Each year we have our surprising gifts. Each time some different people receive their awaited treats. Let's be thankful for this scene to be existing. Concerning myself I am pretty sure I will never download it also, maybe for exceptional and rare moments. But it is always enjoyable to see fundamentally powerful software made available for anyone that wish to enjoy using it. Seeing the scene living and evolving. That's so badass.

 

i really wish they release PT, so everyone could mess around with it for a couple of weeks and then go back to what they actually use.

As long as I know, Pirat approves the release postings right? So, tracking this time is useless. So instead, pray for Pirat to be sober tonight..

In the US personal copyright is life of author/creator + 70 years. Work For Hire copyright is 95 years from first tangible form (publication, retail .exe, etc) or 120 years from first creation. For works created in the USA this is enforceable worldwide in any territory the US has a reciprocal treaty with, which is most of them. It generally follows that those countries also typically use the same rules. Software follows the same guidelines as the other categories, the novel bits are protected.

Speaking of Gong, it doesn’t look like a monster but the whole bundle would be pretty big. Naughty AudioThing hasn’t been properly pawned for a long time.

 

I’ve got some inside info: we’ll definitely be seeing Cherry Audio stuff in the near future.

 

It is either UAD or VSL, UAD doesnt have all plugins in native, so i am voting for VSL.

In 2023 the Gong was Acustica. In 2024 SynchroArts, Sequoia, Rhodes, in 2022 Lennar Digital and Plugin Alliance, in 2021 UVI and EastWest.
(I'm only counting official Gongs according to R2R, but in those years we have received huge releases, bigger than Gongs in many occasions.)

 

For anyone saying that UAD native are worthless and hoping for a software emulator to run DSP plugins, it's technically extremely hard and nearly impossible for two simple reasons:
1st: UAD’s DSP chips (mainly Analog Devices SHARC processors) have proprietary firmware and binaries that are not publicly documented.

2nd: UAD plugins compiled for DSP are machine code specifically for SHARC, not for x86/ARM CPU.
You’d need a binary-level emulator of that architecture plus all the UAD runtime libraries, which are encrypted and protected by licensing.

I'm not doubting any Team's capabilities but just being realistic here, that's a whole another level of reverse engineering, we're not even talking about reverse engineering but rebuilding everything from the ground up on a whole different architecture.

I think if R2R ever attacks UAD (I highly doubt it, at least for now), I think they'll focus on native iLoks. A DSP emulator is a tremendously complex work. But you can expect anything from the GOAT Team. Personally, I expect a BIG iLok as Gong, but honestly, I have no idea what it could be.

 

I agree that it's not legendary, but if you start adding up the modules it ain't gonna be cheap.
