My feeling is, the 'huge legendary monster' is a brand rather than a piece of a software, so my guess is UAD. The Pokemon and the balls could be the various original hardware and their emulations by UAD. I can't think of anything about 'Save your money' part though.

It will be fun to see the commenters who "just hate UA" suddenly overjoyed by a release of UA. The only way to actually hate UA as a company is to have been prior customers. Otherwise, how would they even know?

I hope they do UA, because I have a secret, but probably unrealistic; wish that the number of people using Waves for basic mixing purposes (or at all) declines sharply as a result.

Not exactly. The part of that story they seem to have left out, was that they literally looked for studios who advertised using Waves plugins on their own websites. Some of them even had used Waves' own logos on their studio websites. Not exactly using the Pegasus no-click-install smartphone malware for that operation. More like an exploding YellowPages phone book.

For some sample player/instrument and its' libraries, like VSL or Opus, etc examples. There is no additional content to buy from UA.

It’s either a proper take down of UVI or UAD. It’s not some random synth or plug-in nobody’s heard of; they’re not gonna tease some plug-in you can buy for ~$99-$100, let’s be real. Yes, UVI has appeared before — in the form of FX plugins. Let’s be real, though: nobody says “UVI” and means their collection of FX devices. I also don’t think it’s something peculiar like a string library/plugin — not everybody uses strings in their productions. Everybody, however, can make use of UA’s offerings. Realistically, it’s most-likely UAD (Native) and they’ve created an emulator which will allow you to add [future] UAD inclusions when purchased or after they’re [K]’d (and made available on the scene).

UAD plugins have been expensive for the longest time, so thats probably what they mean by save your money. They are probably also saying that because they expect that all of UADs upcoming releases will be able to be unlocked as well, considering that we only have a small amount of their exclusive DSP plugins ported over to native.

 

Lately, they have been selling them at much cheaper prices compared to before. You can now get them for $10 in a bundle of 10 plugins or individually for just $29.

R2R are not going to do a noteworthy Mac only release with this much pre-Gong hoopla. That would have ended back on page 3 or something.

This formulation is indeed quite intriguing. Separating the pokemons, which is obviously the main subject, and the balls. Either it's a joke, either it's style, or it is an element of plain importance in the riddle. We shouldn't forget that our beloved witches do have a peculiar sense of humor. But why mentioning especially the container of the pokemons [plugins] ? And, at the same time, there is a promise of also getting their balls. So this cannot be a reference to hardware, like UAD DSPs. I mean physically speaking. Smells like a sample player and a shit ton libraries.
