    Hey People,

Hope all of you are well,

Well today i wanna share a Tip that i've just Found out about, few days ago, it may help some of you or not,

    anyway let me begin :

Nvidia has came up with something called DSR, what is DSR,

DSR is Dynamic Super Resolution, the option that give you power to have a Higher Resolution than your Monitor Supports, UP To 4K on a 1080P monitor.

This Technology is destined for Gamers, but you may ask me what can this give me or do to me, or how can i benefit from this ?

Well i can tell you, as a producer/sound engineer, you may need a Higher Resolution monitor than most people have, so you can have a better viewing and controlling of your environment, it may help you when you have allot of tracks, and you mix allot or have a long list of plugins/track in your Mixer, the higher the resolution the more information you can see or view on your monitor...

Some people suffer from having a small monitor with a low resolution, while working on a track or mixing, at it can become a mess looking for this and that, and trying to make it work.

Well now with this DSR Technologie, you can have the Resolution of your dream on your Windows/Monitor.

    Advantages :

    - Use a higher Resolution on your Monitor.

    Disadvantages :

    - Using DSR, can make your Monitor a bit Blurred, in the Other Hand Nvidia Offer a half Solution that you can tweak to get it right.

So what do i need for this,

    - an Nvidia Graphic Card from GTS 450 to GTX 980Ti

    - Probably should update to the last Nvidia Driver.

    - a monitor ?

How Can i use this then ?

Open Nvidia Control Panel > Manage 3D Settings > General Setting > DSR Factors, Check all of them.

i told you about the Half Solution ? right DSR - Smoothness by default it is 33%, i'm using it at 50%

same as messing with an audio interface Buffer :bleh:

Now Go change your Resolution as you would normally do,

PS : Checking all DSR Factors will give you all the Options up to 4K,

Mess with it, and choose whatever suits you & your Eyes.

    Currently i'm at 1.20x myself

the Results aren't perfect it is not a perfect Technologie after all, (well maybe it is) but your Monitor may not be happy about.

You may like the resolut or NOT, so mess with it if you get something that you like or satisfy you, totally happy for you, if you didn't like it or didn't work well for you OR you didn't have something that totally satisfy you totally sorry,

test it for a long period, if it doesn't hurt your eyes stay with it,

there is a price we pay for this, are you willing to pay ?

    me totally worth it...

Anyway you don't get the same Result on all the Monitors.

so, this may Help you or may not, all i'm asking is try it yourself...

    :like::like::like:

Have a nice day, and hope you get something from this.

but true you can't really see stuff using 4k monitor... and you said 5k ? lol i think it is overkill :/

I'm also using a 2560x1440 resolution on my Asus PB287Q monitor. But already at this resolution I have a lot of problems with non-resizable plugin GUIs. For any resolution above I would at least need a 30" monitor, otherwise the GUIs would be way too small.

Thanks for this. GeForce GTX 960 here. Slightly off-beat question but related. Does anyone here use the Google Earth Pro flight simultaor? I love it, but my graphics go blurry after 10 minutes of flight. I have tried all tweaks inside of GEP but no difference. I have 16GB RAM. if anyone has any ideas I'd be grateful.

Its automatic, but you must have latest nvidia drivers and 10.10 at least.
My monitor is 4k, but you can put 7k... and see nothing LOL!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the only way I know to emulate higher res is doing a kind of antialiasing (or downsampling).

Is how it works? For example, it's equivalent to capture a video from one 1080p display (gameplays, tutorials) and then convert it to 720p? Like when you download a YT video in lower resolutiom than the original?

not so useful for me on my main 24inchers, but kinda nice on the little old 1024x768 (@1.2 factor) sidescreen.
with this ratio windows even have the same size as on the mains. now it's almost a perfect overlap.
still a bit blurry, not sure if i keep it...

There is an app in OSX wich can change the resolution and go over the maximum resolution of the screen, if i remember well is called Xswitch or something similar. It's really terrible when you go over the maximum resolution everything become blurred. I voted NO because is just terrible.

I'm saving money for a good/quality display wich is still the best choice IMO.

Must go to nvidia and see what resolutions your card delivers, also different outputs have different resolutions, at least in mine!

if you need it maybe for you is an important feature but for me it's still no, if i really need more resolution i just go for a better screen. Aren't today 4k and 5k not enough?
