Most people don't kill because they don't like killing others. Some people don't kill others because it's prohibited by law.
There isn't necessarily a connection to faith and god.

Actually, the opposite of what you imply may be assumed.
As my grandfather once said: Be careful with strict believers, they go to the priest with a bad sin and he imposes three ave marias on them. Sin done.
The rest of us may suffer from a serious sin possibly for life. This is a strong reason not to commit sins.

All in all I tend to the opinion that on the basis of the alleged existence of God/gods more people have died than the belief in them has saved.

The God kills all the people. All living beings. We all will die someday. We all are mortal. This is the will of the God.

The God created human body which is vulnerable. So we can kill each other. The God created stones, poisons and other 'tools' of killing.

For The God created all the things which exist.

P. S. I don't justify the murder. This is just a 'theological fact'.

 

And I must add that the God is an atheist. The God don't beleive in any gods. There is no gods above the God.
