i tried to make like an outro beat to an anime cause thats what the picture sorta reminded of, but it just turned out kinda boring and sloppy as a song. not my favorite creation so im gonna stop working on it and just post what i did as this is not a contest. https://vocaroo.com/1oIPjHHFrG65

@macros mk2 .. Sometimes less is more, so to me this is just perfect the way it is! I do wish to know the story behind your piece though, if you please.

Just a moment in time. Two dimensional, still. Time erases the moment and like everything, it fades until it is all just a semblance of life, just a drop of sound in the waves of noise that is the sea of memory.

Beneath a sky that hums in electric blue,
The people, shadows of themselves, stretch thin
Like paper lanterns swaying on a string
They drift in time, suspended, soft, and still

The sun, a coin tossed into the air,
Hangs above their heads in a liquid dance,
Pouring light that trickles like melted glass,
Their skin, a canvas painted gold and rare

Faces tilt toward its warm embrace,
Eyes closed, they drink in rays like whispered dreams,
Each breath a note in a song of light,
A symphony of silence, strange and bright

They lose their names in the glow of noon,
Shapes melt, reformed in flickers and gleams.
Fingers curl in air, drawing unseen stars,
As time uncoils in loops, no end, no start

In this place, the world itself dissolves,
Where nothing moves but shadows in reverse,
And people fade to glowing lines of dust,
Breathing the sun, becoming part of its pulse

@Magic Max : yo this one for sure sounds like A.I., i thought the last one was too; which is whatever to me, it cant press me - what i am curious about though is: what part did you play in this process? definitely an interesting entry

Suno is the AI basis developed from my lyrics. I then separated stems with RipX and fed the vocal into Replay and replaced it with a new voice. The music is then all replaced or added as new tracks in Logic. I felt AI was a suitable fit for the image and subject matter of "time" since it seems to me lately that time itself and our memories may be an artificial construct. Either that or I should lay off the magic mushrooms.

I love you, Magic Max, I truly do, though with a fury relegate my rage against The Machine and feel that it has no place in the human creative process of music, visual art or literature. What would Hari Seldon say? In my strong opinion, directing a software to fashion lyrics or music even though the artist would pick and choose, re-arrange or otherwise manipulate the data spawn constitutes a form of plagerism that I cannot condone. What you proffer is quite beautiful and I'm awed at the deepness and majesty of the lyrics (I'm quite jealous actually) but would have much preferred you penning a piece of your own making. I appreciate your craft and insight drawn upon by the many years of your highly creative and successful musical career, your sophisticated taste and exquisitively tuned ear to formulate this piece, but spurn the outcome of the endeavor.

Then again opinions are like assholes, everyone's got one and maybe I have two!

@Magic Max nice 'k or j-drama' vibe that suits the picture and interesting concept. The ending is a surprise...just like in the Netflix drama that it could be the end credits for.

I may be in a minority and i totally understand musicians, and people in general, negative opinions about AI etc. but i have no strong feelings against it. Perhaps we are just on the cusp of something new and different, just a different way of doing things.....no better, no worse....and as yet people haven't really come to terms with it? Who knows....in a generation it will just be accepted as norm and just another tool, piece of kit or 'instrument' to be learned and played or maybe it will totally wipe out human civilization on the pale blue dot?.......but overall it doesn't spoil my cornflakes in the morning  (just my humble opinion not meant to say others aren't correct in what they say)

just as an aside....whenever i see the name Magic Max i cant help my brain jumping to the Springsteen Jungleland lyrics "And the Magic Rat drove his sleek machine Over the Jersey state line Barefoot girl sitting on the hood of a Dodge".........then i have an earworm all day long :)

your opinions valid @Lois Lane , everyone has an opinion but not everyone has an informed one. just like everyone could fight if they wanted too and most think they can, a black belt sees it differently. unlike most, youre not just talking out of your ass. youve shown the work and discipline you put into your craft, multiple times; you dont just talk, youre entitled too it and your opinion is respected homie

personally im more in the @Aidene camp, in part because im too nice, i can express myself fully in anyway i want too and i understand the process of music creation at a high level. if someone else needs it, that has nothing to do with me and wont effect what i create - ive even heard like someone use A.I. to mimic my voice, didnt even sound like me, A.I. cant breathe amongst other nuances that make it sound weird

another part is my grandfather has stage 4 cancer, he stayed at my house for a few months to get surgery and recover, i got him a nurse and everything; he also was a professional photographer in Kauai, Hawaii for almost all my life - we were talking one day while he was here and he told me why he got into photography, it was because he always wanted to be painter but he just didnt have the aptitude for it, so photography was the next best thing. when photography first started, majority of artists hated it because a large part of the industry up to that point was painting portraits for people; thats how majority of painters made money. they saw taking photos as how a lot of artists see A.I. - but in the end art just changed and evolved and people ended up making more money in art than they ever did before doing portraits and landscapes and photography became its own art form - neither destroyed the other, despite most artists fear that it was going too, people ended up respecting photography, even though at first, painters thought it was bullshit

will definitely be interesting imo to see how music, the industry and artists approaches change in my lifetime as a music artist because of A.I.

    Here's my entry:

Full disclosure: this is an old track, but thought it would be appropriate for this month's topic. Feel free to disqualify me.

Built around dialogue from the movie Rumblefish.

@FrankPig : ayy i fuck with this. mix sounds really good and the arrangement is super laid back but simultaneously really busy yet still spacious; it creates this like buoyancy feeling like when youre floating on the waves in the ocean. i especially like the intro and the tremolo guitar, feels very coastal, aquatic and dreamy. cool little experimental rock piece that i agree fits this

also props on keeping it a buck and saying you made this beforehand; in fairness to others this takes you out of hosting the next one. i still appreciate you sharing this though, hope youre able to make something for this in the future

@Lois Lane I am in total agreement with you and my self loathing regarding my current state of musical ennui cannot be overstated. What I am doing is denying myself the enjoyment of the most fundamental aspect of music making which is the deep personal participation in the process. It is now a year since I composed a complete song and two years since I sang a song of my own making. I feel drained of fuel and survive on the last few drops of oil left in the sump. Weeks can go by without me going into the studio. The days of the 1970's and 80's when I would be on stage with my band, almost every night of the week playing my own songs seem like they belong to another person. I feel like Jim Carrey in the Truman Show discovering that the musical world I've inhabited for almost fifty years was a movie set and I cast myself as the lead actor only to find out it was all fake.

@Aidene I was telling myself for a while that AI was just a new tool, akin to the mellotron or sampling, but I'm now over the novelty of it and I see the patterns in the way it works and I now feel something that, with each song it delivers, resembles a tawdry interaction, a grubby one way, emotionless transaction, where the sites hosts are pimps and the AI models, hookers to be used or abused. I had a sense of being unfaithful to a spouse. Cheating on my own musical muse with a simulacrum of everybody else's musical muses from the past decades. I'm sure there's a William Gibson novel in there somewhere. Oh, and one more thing.... I got really pissed off when it created a melody from my lyric that was, in my opinion, better than anything I had been able to create. So, maybe I'm just jealous.
