Hi everyone, might be the noob question. I have a pair of KRK Rokit 5 and when I put my ear close to tweeters I can hear them making some noise. Even when not connected to the audio interface. I just plug it to the socket and the noise is there. I`ve tried to lower the volume on the speakers to -70db (lowest you can go), noise is still there. Only hearable when very close to a tweeter but anyway.

So the question is it normal or something is wrong?

All monitors have some self-noise, some less than others, some more. As long as it's not audible when you are mixing it's nothing to worry about.

There are the following kinds of noise sources:

    1. The noise that comes from amplifier itself - thermal noise, voltage noise, and current noise (depends on component quality and on design quality, of power supply especially).
    2. The noise that comes into amplifier from the power grid ['dirty power'] - Electromagnetic Interference (EMI) and Radio Frequency Interference (RFI). There are two types of RFI. Conducted RFI is unwanted high frequencies that ride on the AC wave form. Radiated RFI is emitted through the air. (In good quality gear it should be filtered out).
    3. A bad ground connection.

So if your ground connection is fine, your active speakers' amp is just of poor quality.
