What's up?
I bought the Virus Ti synthesizer and I was tried to remake some good synths..
So I was tried to remake the Nicky Romero - Lighthouse track, and haven't any idea how he make the glitch/pitchdown effect at the end of the long notes.
I tried the Glitch 2 plugin but I don't love the result... so friend someone maybe know how to do it?
I hear this effect at a lot of progresive track like "Avicii - Levels"
So hear is my try, don't care about the mix I will impove it....

Funny you don't like the results of Glitch 2 since Avicii uses this plug-in for his glitch/pitchdown effect. Maybe you could try Effectrix by Sugar Bytes which is another great plug-in for this tapestop effect sound. Also Nicky Romero uses Logic Pro for his productions, so if you use Logic Pro you could try the Pitch Fade technique.

 

ez : Pitch bend range set at 12 or 24. will rely on the synth, and won't bring the same grit. (will fuck up with delay/reverb/...)
harder : Bounce the track. Import it in the track in a sampler, and pitch bend again (the bend will affect the whole sound, which is better) (the sampling engine of the sampling might do some happy accident and give several more controls.

 

The effect is called pitch envelope, AKA tape stop (or just pitch bend if it's within a synth).
Bounce/render and use your DAW's built-in pitch envelope. It should suffice just fine.
Or use something simple like TapeStop VST as insert effect (and trigger it with automation).

It's the most overused offects of the 2012 and 2013. Also know as Vinyl effects
