I want to use the NI Massive "Absolute" preset (what a great sound), but I don't want the echoing "swoosh" that it has, just the deep, reverberating bass pluck. I just can't firgure out how to remove the "swoosh" part. If anyone can help that would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi mate, I had a quick look at that preset,
I don't have time to fiddle to much with it,
btw try to play with the macro, it should work, without having to dig into reprogramming
lfo's modulations & co. Have a look at this pic to see how I tuned the macros.

It's just a quick try in 2 minutes, so don't expect much:
It sounds like this, don't know if I understand if it's what you're lookin for

    Hope this helps

I´m not sure if this is what you want but just change "5 LFO" for a Stepper and make it so that it just loops the first bar, you get just the bass pluck, adjust the level to get the sound that you are looking for. (Also adjust the release macro)

    This is what I mean:

Cifrocco you have choose a difficult to master preset to get that.

Look at the colored numbers under the circular buttons. These numbers are modulation destinations. This sound have a lot of hard modulations. So the first step would be to put off each one of them. But still, you will have left 2 elements:
The envelope number 4, that you'll have to shorten, then the oscillator number 3, and here is where real difficulty resides, as when you begin to change this Osc, the sounds tends to loose its equilibrium.
Other thing you can do is modify the amp level of Osc 1. between these two and some filter adjustment you may find the sound you're looking for.
But if you really only want the low frequencies, it may be much easier to find a sound closer to your needs to edit.
    Hope this helps

Yes it is tough to isolate just the nice bass pluck, everytime I try I lose something about the fullness and depth of the sound and also on the reverb tail. But thanks for all your help everyone, I got something I can work with.

Just goes to show how amazing Massive is. I'll hunt for other presets that don't need so much work :), and also on the equally awesome Sylenth1, although at this time I own Massive but not Sylenth1 yet.

Sylenth sounds good, but it really lacks a good preset browser. You cant even see the name of the bank from the preset come.

The main thing in this sound is LFO5 and combination of filters, comb + band reject, and LFO makes to sound going from deep to high with band reject filter modulated with it.

    1. Turn off LFO 5 slider on Filter 2 Cutoff
    2. Turn off LFO 5 slider on Filter 1 damping and pitch
    3. Play with Filter 2 cutoff position
