Has anyone got a list or know how to identify which expansions need which samples/files? I could probably try to work it out but i am wondering if anyone knows of a method to identify or knows of some list or something.

Basically i want Nexus 5 but i don't want 220GB sort of Nexus 5 because that is ridiculous. i am not interested in that sort of footprint. I mainly just want all the 2.2 expansions which is only 14GB in Nexus 2. Basically i would need the following EXP packs only.

I literally would stay on Nexus 2.2 but one thing lets it down atm and that is that in many 64bit hosts it loses the ability to scroll because the VST is a 32bit one, Jbridge and all that does not fix this issue.

Everything in Blue can be copied directly from Nexus 2 Content folder and works as is in its native FXP format in Nexus 5.

    Arpeggios
    Bass
    Classical
    Dance Leads
    Epic Leads
    Fantasy and Dreams
    Gated Pads
    Piano
    Plucked
    Single Layer Leads
    Single Layer Pads
    Single Layer Sequence
    Synthetic Brass
    Textures and FX
    Voice

Everything here in Red needs to be changed into the new format since Nexus 3 and up? i am not certain but i think this is the case so it needs the samples and nskf format or what ever it is called? All i know is i tried some Nexus 3/4 versions of these Red packs and its intermittent some of them work as is and some of them need the associated samples else you will get the "sample not found" error on some of the presets.

    XP Analog
    XP Bass
    XP Bigtone Signature
    XP Bigtone Signature 2
    XP Bigtone Signature 3
    XP Crank

    XP Drums Singles
    XP Guitars
    XP Hands UP -Electro Bass
XP Hands UP - Electro Bass Vol.2
    XP Hardstyle
    XP Minimal House
    XP Minimal House Vol.2
    XP Omicron
    XP Pop
    XP PS Total Piano
    XP ROM Extension
    XP SID
    XP Stratosphere
    XP Vintage Bonus
    XP Vintage Drumkits
    XP Vintage Drumloops
    XP Vocoder
    XP Xmas

Does anyone know what sample folders to download from the complete pack/torrent? Like the actual Sample folders etc.

With the packs listed and the 30k thirdparty presets pack for Nexus 2.2 that is tons of sounds never going to need more than that and its stupid to fathom 200 something GB for not much benefit when we used to have plenty of sounds for only 14gb.

I suspect CoPilot or your favourite AI will be able to figure this out. I asked it about new expansions available in 2.2 as a test, if you dig deeper it can probably help you. I find AI great for solving software problems. You just need the right questions.

Here’s a deeper dive into the two expansions introduced with Nexus 2.2:

    1. Vintage DrumKits:
      • Features 65 complete drum kits, each containing 61 GM-mapped samples.

      • Includes 66 loops and 10 bonus sequences.

      • Nearly 4,000 single samples are included, representing a mix of cult-classic and modern drum machines.

      • This expansion is perfect for those who love meticulously programmed and instantly usable drum sounds.
    2. Crank 2:
      • Offers 150 presets designed for electronic and experimental music enthusiasts.

      • Known for its edgy, noisy, and minimal-experimental sounds.

      • Ideal for pushing creative boundaries with unique and unconventional tones.
Additionally, Nexus 2.2 brought new features like the Gate and Compressor insert effects, as well as new modulation destinations for Layer 1-4 cutoff and resonance. These updates enhanced the overall functionality and sound design capabilities of Nexus.

220gb is the size of 2 Superior Drummer 3 libraries. You will probably have N5 working for a week before you go download the rest of it.

Thanks guys for your response. I just think its absurd that there is 220GB for nexus now and i don't have the drive space for that. I am working on it atm and i managed to do a dir > output.txt to get all the names from the Nexus 2 library,

For reference my goal here is to replicate how it was when we had Nexus 2.2 Team Air version as that version is what everyone survived on for years. All that big thridparty content was made from this base release and imo its like 100,000+ sounds for little footprint this is why i am interested.

There is a trance pack in that third party mega pack that is like 10gb but its trash so if you delete it that whole pack now takes up well below a GB in space but you still get 100,000+ sounds. Combine the total net wight of Nexus 2.2 in this regard it only takes up 14Gb for everything but you have a lot of sounds more than you will ever need. My goal is to replicate this but in Nexus 5.

Anyway back to topic. I managed just now to find out the following, by using cmd to dump the exp names.

Sample pack names that go in the "Sample" folder These are the samples we need:

    Rom
ROMExt < Both these blue ones can work right out the gate from Nexus 2 right into Nexus 5 and work, just like the above example.

These Red ones the actual expansions must of changed since Nexus 3 i assuming so i am going to try downloading nexus 3 or 4 versions and trying.

I also think XPXmas no longer exists and got changed to "Chrismas" but seeing as it was less common i don't think it will break many packs.

This mega pack of course that many of you will remember, is the last part of the goal if i can get all those
red working then this pack will work as is.

I think after all that then it would be nice to add a couple packs like Hollywood as that was never obtainable to Nexus 2.2 . Past that my main goal is small footprint 220GB is absurd when i can have to many sounds in 2.2 more than i will ever use and it weighs in at about 14GB. If i forgo the preview files then all this should weigh close to the same size.

Using the samples from Nexus 4.5.4 torrent:

Update my line of thinking is correct but the following expansions still in red don't work The ones in green now work using the 4.5.4 version of the samples. The Red ones complain with the following.

If anyone knows why this issue is? then i would like to know or know how to fix it, if this cannot be resolved then i wouldn't be able to use that mega pack without some of it being broken.

OK Edit: The resolution was to replace the actual Presets for those Exp packs with the ones from the 4.5.4 torrent, this is something i should do for all of them anyway even all the other preset like the arp/TG etc as there is added preset over time. This is working 100% now.

The total weight of the content library atm is 17.5GB With the Mega pack installed.
