Newbie to Daws asking for recommendation

    If you want to record something don't use FL Studio. Otherwise any other popular daw should be fine.

    For the use you're describing ? Honestly, any DAW. If you want to scale your productions up, what the others said. Studio One, Reaper, Ableton and Bitwig are great options for music producers.

    Thanks everyone. Since someone here discussed free loops/fake instruments and Reaper is supposed to work well with slightly weaker machines I figure that I will start with Reaper. I only have 8 gigs and and i3 processor. In the end I'll have to struggle to get anywhere and find out what I need to know with any DAW. The price of Reaper is also good. Cakewalk is up in the air until the bring Next out of beta and settle on a price. And I haven't used cakewalk in years so Reaper is as good and perhaps better than any other DAW to start my DAW journey.

    .UPDATE:-

    Apparently the rules have changed recently over getting Ableton Lite legally for free, so I have removed my commendation of it.
