I'm still learning mixing and i know it takes time to get better but layering drum sounds has probably saved me the most time and frustration of all the techniques i've recently tried. I'm yet to get triggering software so i've been layering samples by hand (checking phase etc...) but now i can do minimal eq and compression to source with layers helping create the tone i want.
