I don't quite understand. You mean Rapid will have such expansions? I don't see how that would beat Nexus' 64 oscillators and low CPU though.

I think both Rapid and Nexus can do very well very specific jobs (one is flexible to a certain extent, the other one has more oscillators, low cpu and big stack of simultaneous round robin). Neither is going to kill the other. Not even upcoming Avenger.

Perhaps the next poll should be...

    I'd start it, but I'm a noob :(

210 euro. Umm... For what? Avenger looks more complete, polished, less ugly and more user-friendly. Imho.

Yeah can't demo it at moment so could sound amazing but seems a bit highly priced for me personally.

Don't see the need to "kill" nexus.
Personally I always thought Nexus way overpriced but that just me.
This looks initially like it has way more "Tweeking" potential with better modulation options than nexus though.
    Wavetable modulation always interesting.

GUI is really poor and ugly as hell imo and for something with such a price tag they should have done a way better job imo.

Need to demo but initial thoughts are unless it sounds amazing there a number of synths in the same price bracket that appeal more to me personally.

    Could be amazing tho

Nexus is a preset whorehouse. This has a preset whorehouse in the makings but is as a bonus, a goddamn synth with many features equal or better than serum. Doesn't even compares to nexus.

In Rapid you can't import wavetables or samples and you can't process wavetables at all then you have less LFOs and envelopes compared to Serum. But if you use Serum only by browsing presets I can see that you're seeing it as being "underwhelming".

You can look like these two like this: Rapid is a synth geared toward "immediacy" and possible live players while Serum can do real crazy stuff by importing geometric shapes images & so on.

This is somehow nagging me. People are complaining about being an expensive synth so the sales may or not may be great. What would be the minimum revenue that would keep the developer motivated to - you know - develop?

I don't use presets and yeah importing wavetable is missing but is something they intend to add (so I've read in a few places, if they don't yeah that sucks), I said it can be better than Serum in some stuff (some stuff being the magic word) in for example being able to parallel filter with the 8 (or is it 10? can't remember from the video I watched) layers of stuff, which makes all kinds of crazy chains possible. 4 lfos and envelope is enough to me but I can more being something cool to have occasionally, for a while serum only had 4 and it was no hassle most of the time.

Serum has some crazy stuff but I don't see it as that obvious that it's better (ignoring the price tags here), I see potential in this Rapid synth, even tho it's going the nexus path focusing on presets (which I honestly find cool based off the ones I've demo'ed even tho I'm not a fan of using them because I'm more interested in synthesis than producing songs tbh)

And yeah, who knows if it will sell poorly and will shutdown, time will tell. If it does suceed, I look foward to seeing it take nexus place while also being regarded as a cool competitive synth, that'd be interesting.

Why should any synth kill any other synth? Or any OS kill another OS, or DAW kill another DAW.....
I've always hated these types of comparisons. I'll use 5 or more different synths in a project. Over a dozen kontakt libs sometimes. Maybe SD just for cymbals. The poll part of the topic was unnecessary.
If you ask me, the more you know the further you'll go.
If you choose to limit yourself that's your choice.

I just demoed it and it sounds pretty good to me. Also light on CPU.

Solely based on the presets I'd say this won't be a Nexus killer. IMO probably not even the right question to ask if it is

EDIT: Also it isn't that hard to use after you've been using it for like 15 minutes. Not as easy as Serum though.

What I don't get is this obsession with Nexus. I think people are obsessed with it only for two reasons:

    1) it is super expensive [for no reason, and you have to pay extra for the stupid stuff like skins!] and super overrated by guys who don't know any better.
    2) only v1 has been cracked.

Then people with nothing else to do obsess over it in the forums. Nexus in my eyes is just a very average rompler. There are so many other really great synths on the market like Serum, Spire, Korg synths... even Omnisphere is better than Nexus. People should just forget about that mind challenged developer and his exclusively terrible creations. That guy has some serious and really bad issues, really!

p.s. there might be a third reason why people are obsessed with it: its size. Some people equals the size of the installation with quality which can't be further from the truth. Only sound matters. Listen with your ears, not gigabytes on the hard disk, not money paid for it, nor with your eyes [nice skin].
