'Once more' is funny taking into consideration that v5 and v6 sound identical (and neither of them has cramping EQs).

Anti-cramping EQ? It's nothing new for SSL they claimed that BS was introduced for version 6 native plugins. Tie a nice bow on something, make it shiny, and maybe they'll buy more of it!
All this to go with their new most expensive mouse ever (avg £700) the UC1 that is no more than a midi controller for the two plugins.

 

Not funny at all, or a particularly difficult concept to grasp - they just said they once again "lifted the lid" to work on the code.

In the case of V5 to v6, it was mostly graphical/framework related. In the case of this latest version, they again overhauled the graphics, but also fixed some user requests about the EQ behaviour. In both cases, they "lifted the lid" to work on the code to make changes and/or improvements.

No, no, it's the hip.

It means that the EQ curve at the Nyquist freq has a sharp bend instead of just stopping, which is a disaster for purists (even if no one can hear it ).

Aliasing means that generated freqs above Nyquist freq are thrown back into the audible range.

 

Wait, I can upgrade to 2 for free? Because I actually did buy that bundle in February, when it was on sale. Or did you mean customers who already bought them in previous year(s)? Probably for a higher price though.

 

no, i also bought it earlier this year at the sale. just download the new installers and you are ready to go with v2.

v1 will stay in the folder as separate plugin for your older projects.

 

Psychology is a hell of a thing.
We have all fooled ourselves once or twice before by tweaking the plugin and definitely "hearing" something while the plugin was actually bypassed.

 

I hope it will be cracked in the near future

The LMC1 was great. It's built into their DrumStrip plugin these days...

The update is free for everyone. SSL updated everyone's iLok authorizations already (hint, thats why they both say 2 after them in the iLok manager now) just download the installers and install them.

 

You need both an iLok & SSL account.
Create the iLok account, verify & download iLok driver.
Create SSL account, verify, change password to one you want to use going forward or leave as is. Log out & relaunch browser.
Login to MySSL & use the old login dialog option (for software on the right side of the screen).

 

A good example of a cramped EQ is Reaper's stock ReaEQ. The difference is pretty minor but non-cramped EQ's can have more pleasing high shelfs.
