Yeah i was thinking of getting magic ab then i saw this.

 

Better in what? What about Melda MCompare 11.04+?

 

@billythehit, would you care to explain why you think it's better than Magic A/B? Such a statement can't be thrown around without support.

LOL @you. :D You're too lazy to learn what is this plugin for.

These plugins are meant to be inserted on master channel and they compare the current mix (all tracks, effects, settings etc.) against e.g. a selected commercially released track. Soloing individual tracks has nothing to do here.

 

Or you can put your master on one track/buss, and your reference on another, and switch between them.

...Or you can pay £49 for a basic meter.

 

I can press stop in my daw and play reference track in my player which is always on top. Two clicks for free. Simple.

Many people here haven't even read some info about the Reference's plugin and are already commenting on it wtf

 

Why just don't do it in your daw with meters of your choice?

 

Because of workflow. Magic A/B, the one I use, gives to consistent referencing, without having to spend time and bus/track count unnecessarily. You can level match up to 12 sources and flip through all of them within the plugin. You can consistently keep tabs of gain staging as you can lower or raise the B source(s) to match the levels of your mix as you go along it. You can set it to loop around one section of the reference so your comparison of a track can be isolated to, say, just the last chorus of a song. If you ask me, it pays off when you spend more time mixing than setting up levels. I really doubt that your DAW template (the free alternative) might include making presets with your favorite reference tracks ready to go for any mix you're working on.

It's all about workflow.

That's why I ask how this Reference plugin can bring something new to the table.

Reference is much better than Magic AB , because it has trinity option, it is more useful, you can see what is going on with freq

I have seen this plugin mentioned several weeks before official release, somebody already used it probably as a betatester. And comments were it is really good, a nice addition or even replacement (for MCompare, magic ab2).
