Pretty dope track, man, love the roomy vocal in the "chorus" and the overall vibe!
One quick production tip for little more variety, though: at 2:00 I would personally leave out the drums completely making it feel like a "breakdown part" and then build up the drums again after some seconds. It would have a new floating like flair to it and makes it more interesting!
Im listening on my mac speaker so its hard to actually judge the mix, but it sounds pretty good overall.
Except for some things i noticed instantly:
    1. Snaps doesnt feel in the mix, probably it's just the loudness, could be on purpose though.
    2. The Kick in the "roomy vocal chorus" sounds pretty snappy and doesnt fit the song too well (thats pretty subjective)

Very good effort, I enjoyed listening !

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, i like the extremeness of the snaps. Could be a problem with some speakers that i don't hear through mine. Hope someones ear doesn't break...

Edit: Will def try your tip.

Dope. Sounds just as good and better then a lot of the contemporary R&B and pop you hear on mainstream radio. Mix is clean too. Having it mastered would take it to the uppre echelon imo. Anyways a great song.

Over all there are some nice sounds and feel... the lead vocalist has dialect issues (can't understand the lyrics) which is not good for a song seeking radio play. The auto-tune on the chorus vocals is too much (IMO) but then, that might be necessary if the vocals are that out of tune with one another. The kick drum is weak and as mentioned before... the snaps are too far forward in the mix...
It's all subjective nowadays because a lot of shitty mixes are acceptable fodder. Just listen to the shit on the radio. 90% of it sucks and the small indie releases are even worse... No dynamics and the waveforms are just clipping to beat sixty...

Like you said perception of a mix is subjective. I think the snap cutting heavy through the mix sounds great. Music starts to suck when you start assuming things should conform to a certain standard.

This guy has got the modern R&B Pop vocal sound nailed, but your song is really cool I think you can take it further. Just keep on pushing the boundaries and aim high

Great work mate, both songs on your soundcloud are cool.
Who is the singer? Is it you or do you get an artist in?

Not going to comment on the mix/arrangement etc as I was too busy enjoying the song ;)

Wow, thanks guys! Really! I didn't get any alerts for this thread so i forgot it... Just checking in again...

Yeah, it's my own vocal. I know, i suck. :P But it's good enough to instruct any REAL singer on how to phrase, and that's the only goal, thank god... I cringe when i hear it. It sounds a bit....Not that there is anything wrong with that (seinfeld reference).

Yeah, the snaps sounds great in my speakers. I have a pair of adam a7x. If i were to listen to it through a pair of ns10s i might change my opinion, and i will eventually probably sort it out with the mastering guy when the time comes. I really like when certain sounds pops out. It makes you not fall asleep. But on the other hand, ones' ears shouldn't break on high volume levels.... Just have to find a balance...

I just had a low-period of procrastination, work-wise. You guys just motivated me to open Logic... Thanks! <3

It's a good demo because the production is quite well developed. A record label might well ask you what exactly you're demoing, the voice, the song lyrics or the production, all three could be demo'd like this. The fact that it sounds very contemporary is what makes it sound a bit boring to be honest; it makes you ask 'Who does this sound like?' Again a record label might not want to put out something that's already been done to death by others because no one will take notice. Now that you've proved that you can imitate you need to bring something new to the table to make the listener sit up and take notice. Production-wise it never really gets going, the whole thing sounds like an intro. Something interesting needs to happen to signal the chorus and differentiate it from the rest.

    Glad to hear it! :)
Hah, I don't know about tour. We'll see about that... I don't even DJ...

    I have no idea.

I see your point, and i can partially agree. I think it brings something to the table. but it's not all-new, stylistically. The thing about it sounding like an intro may be a matter of taste. I, for instance can't stand hard EDM. It hurts my brain, so I like it when the sounds are a bit smoother... To be honest, I'm just learning and experimenting, really... Not trying to imitate anyone, so I'll hopefully bump into something new pretty soon... Just bought Zynaptiq Morph 2. New crazy sounds here I come!

Hey.. Maybe im not even the right person to say anything about this since among so many exellent "crafters" here. BUT i really enjoyed your tune here. While my own roots are from a diffrent genre i really enjoyed it and the piece reminds me of My Swedish friend XOV.

So i guess what i want to say is that with a tiny bit of arrangement changes you can end up pretty much anywhere :)
    Love your voice aswell..

Normally i complain about vocals or lack thereof... but Its probably the best element of this track tho..IMO, nothing gay about it at all (Not that there would be anything wrong with that) :hillbilly:

The snaps... yeah,. not good for me either... and the wah wah wah wah bits are absolutely horrible, in my headphones at least.

    Definitely promising, definitely needs work.

Lastly, when asking for opinions, critique, I think its probably best to just take them, use them and not try to explain things away from your side.

    I'd give it 7/10

Seriously rBennich. That’s some dope shit right there! I love the vocals man! Really don’t like the kick drum though. I would have chosen a more modern sounding one, or at least layered that one with more enhancements. Love the synth sounds you used. Very nice. Real talent! Would love to work with you some time if possible.
