Ian Shepherd partnered with MeterPlugs to design a plug-in that helps you
find the right balanced between dynamics and loudness.

Perception is designed for mastering purposes. It features two plug-ins that are
to be inserted at the beginning of your effect chain and on the master. This
setup helps you bypass all the effects at once and compare the track with and
    without any processing.

Plus, if you change the effect settings, you can save up to 4 snapshots and then
use them for comparison. The other key feature in Perception is the continuous
analysis of the loudness of the track and its automatic adjustment to avoid
clipping or balance issues. The plug-in is EBU R.128 compliant, so you can use
in for any type of commercial project.

Last, Perception has a latency compensation function for your plug-ins and a gain
control. The plug-in is available in VST, AU and AAX 32 and 64-bit formats for
Mac OS X and Windows. It retails for $149.

dont call me stupid, but this plugin price is insane. the plugin only checks for loudness right or anything else?

It lets you bypass all the effects at once.

sorry, but as i take it, the plugin does nothing but bypassing your masterchain effects. Or did i miss anything ? I seem to recall that cubase does it out of the box. If it bypasses all plugins (delay, reverb, phaser chorus etc.) Huh, what should it bo good for ?

Perception? I think Delusion would be a more appropriate title...

during long mastering sessions, one might easily become touched by >>delusion<<, the plug-in helps to overcome the phenomenon (besides all the other, perhaps even more useful, tasks)...

wish all of us delusion-free life, work, thoughts, plus all the best of all the best...

For me it's not worth it either...

We can bypass the whole master track fx chain(or any other track) just by pressing a little button above the inserts in Studio One. It also works in Cubase too... so.. i don't think this plug would worth the price just for the loudness metering..

With half of that price you can buy BlueCat Patchwork that does this perfectly and also great for a million other tasks
(btw as already said almost any modern daw have chain bypass :grooves: )
Any good metering plug-in can do that metering duties too, join the two and you have much more.

To me it just seem an overpriced crap so lame people can say they use the same tool Ian Sheperd uses.

The problem here is Ian Sheperd's EARS and experience, not the shit he endorses *no*

Personaly, i could use this a lot !!

I'm not equiped with high end gear and its really hard to try to achieve a Loud mix without over doing it.

This tool could Really help me out A LOT.

I already ask it in request of the other website a month ago.

Wich to see this soon !!

In reaper, we can do this using the ReaEQ. I am not sure if it's worth spending 150 bucks on this perception... :dunno:

Honestly, call me newbie or outdated rookie, but i didn't heard about any "results" or "praise" of Ian Shepard... Maybe just a ebook pop-up window ad (spam-like) in the past... who made me close it in a second, but anyway... Who is Ian She-pard? [IMG] A self-promoted guy who sells his "ears" in the audio plugins world? [IMG]
