    Hey everyone,

I am now ready to build a pc again (will buy the parts after ryzen 4xxx comes out) and I am a little nervous about possible hardware-clashes or mistakes of any sort, so it would be great if you could help determine the parts
    -----------------------------------------------------------
Ryzen 3900X (380€) or Ryzen 4xxx if better value for money
    Dark Rock Pro 4 (~60€)
Case: Fractal Design Define R5-R7 (~120€)
    Radeon RX570 (~150€)
X570 Aorus Master mainboard (less heat than ROG Strix or Taichi, but no TB, maybe I switch for the option to have a TB interface in the future ~320€)
    M.2 SSD 1 TB (~120€)
    HDD 4TB (~100€)

    32GB (2x16GB) RAM, CL16 3600MHz (~120-160€ it seems)
--> 2x16GB to leave space for another possible 2x16GB RAM later
--> Do I lose a lot of performance by not using all 4 slots?

Power Supply (600W or more? Ideally I should be able to put in a stronger GPU)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------
    Total: ~1500€
    ---------------------------------------------------------------
Any advice is most welcome! :thanks:

X570 Aorus Master does not support thunderbolt (no header). Also you should buy optimized ram for AMD like:
    https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Ballistix-Desktop-Gaming-BL2K16G36C16U4B/dp/B083TRXZ98
Optimized ram is a must on a music production AMD system. By the way what audio interface are you planning to use?

    I went with the Seagate Firecuda 520 Gen4 2TB M.2 SSD
    Sequential Read 5,000 MB/s
    Sequential Write 4,400 MB/s
    Random 4KB Read 750,000 IOPS
    Random 4KB Write 700,000 IOPS

Main thing that set it apart was the TBW - 3,600. This is the number of Terabytes that can be written over the life of that drive.

good luck is what i say.i bought a customised pc from computer planet around 2010,thought be future proof for a long time.
unable to update windows 10 since 1803 version, and unable to install massive x.(dosent meet the requirements for massive x)
and i have been told its because of my motherboard that windows update keeps failing.
    what a bummer
    spent £1700 at the time

Last week I built a new PC. I went back and fourth over Intel or AMD and finally went with a 3900x

I went with asus x570 tuf wifi board, very fairly price.
I initially went with the stock wraith prism cooler as I didnt plan on overclocking as with AMD I had read that all core OCs probably wont help me as much as single core turboboost (which AMD can hold indefinitely, unlike Intel which times out).
It was too loud and didnt cool at all, I replaced it with a Noctua NH-U14s which dropped the idle temperature by 15 degrees, and stress test 20 degrees.

For my boot drive I went with a 1TB Samsung 970 Evo NVME m.2, They perform great and are bullet proof.
The rest of my drives I carried over from my old system, 2x2TB Crucial SSDs and a 500GB samsung ssd.

For RAM I went with 2x16GB corsair vengeance 3200.

Case is my old trusty Fractal R5.

Power supply was interesting I bought a corsair TX650 and it was noisy as hell so I returned it, I put my old evga 650 which turns off the fan under 55 degrees and it was perfect.

Graphics I'm running my old GTX960.

Overall, compared to my 4790k, I'm very satisfied, I can now record at a 32 buffer and mix comfortably at 128.

I have just gotten the RME Babyface USB interface. So I don't really see much use in Thunderbolt for me for the foreseeable future. Thanks for the advice with the optimized RAM, I have never heard of that :)

@Pinkman thanks I will consider the Firecuda
@funkman really sorry to hear that :( I really hope that won't happen to me. That's actually why I created this thread...
@MYCbeats thanks, I will consider those parts. Good to hear you are happy with the fractal R5, I will look that one up, too.

@quadcore64 thanks for the advice - would you recommend to wait just for the release of the new ryzen-generation or are there other reasons? - I was planning to pick the parts and then wait (2-4 weeks after the ryzen release) for each part to be at a good historical price.

I have a Fractal Design R6 case and, having just installed another SSD, was struck yet again that, if you install more than two SSDs (or an optical drive) it's a bit of a challange getting the PSU's sata power cable all the way along (and up) to the main drive bay. This is because the PSU location within the R6 is at the back bottom of the case. I have a very good modular PSU which fortunately came with generous cable length, so i was just able to get away with it, but you might save yourself some frustration if you also purchase at least one psu sata power extention cable if you plan to install an optical drive and more than two SSD's.

Both Intel & AMD will have new releases by end of year. Availability will hopefully not be an issue at the same time.

Current tech with a path forward is okay for now once pricing comes back to normal or below.
