Good morning (or evening or day, depends where you are)
I just put out a brandnew dub tune for free i made together with my friend Miro on bass guitar.
Hope you enjoy and we're thankful for all kinds of feedback and opinions.
    Have a great day

  3. I usually don't like dub, but I listened to this two chord acoustic guitar driven track all the way through. And I enjoyed it. When I could hear the bass it was very good. I think you should have given Miro 32 or even 64 bars to play solo. Either way, it was a nice way to enjoy a summer sunset in Australia while drinking wine. Salut!

Greetings from the other side of earth, nuff tnx for your feedback!
well, do you think its too less bass in the overall mix, or just too less bass solo for your taste?
    one love

  5. I think you could find a musical theme, a signature melody for the guitar. It "noodles" without settling on a theme. If you had a theme the bass could repeat that melody as a solo.
Listen to Jaco Pastorius' bass take ownership of the saxophone theme. Then weep that none of us will ever be that good.

The bass sounds too muffled. It would benefit from either a bit saturation or an EQ emphasis of the growl freqs.

Other than that, nice little tune.

@No Avenger : tnx a lot for your advice. still learning. already likkle saturation there, but fe real, a bit surgical eqing could improve that... tnx!

Beautiful rendition of this masterpiece, I never heard it before. But you´re so mean to use this band as an example for us poor mortals.

Altough i like W.R. a lot, i think its a totally other cup of tea than dub or reggae music when it comes to requirements for a bass player. Good example: when i show Miro, a quiet experienced reggae bassist, some heavy technical stuff of Marcus Miller he's just like "mäh, don't like bassists solo that way". So seems to be more a matter of taste and requirements for particular styles.
What i experienced personally: To make reggae wise music with musicians that are technically very skilled, but not personally grown into it, is almost impossible, as these guys cannot hold themselfes back or get bored because they have to.

It desperately needs vocals IMO. There is not a strong enough hook as an instrumental to maintain listening interest over four minutes.

:woot: Completely unacceptable, that's the least we can demand. [IMG]

Bass low freqs <200Hz are too loud.

hmm, as there is no bass guit over 200hz (exept a tiny bit of spring delay), you think its just too loud? i had this feeling so i compared to few sound system reference tracks, and they seem to have even louder bass in the mix. but i totally agree it has to translate good on every system, so... really too loud:woot:?
