I wanted to write this much earlier - now it is of no use - but my internet connection was gone... :dunno:

    For the next time:
There is a much simpler solution to that kind of problem:
    1. Move everything to the desired location.
    2. Replace the old path with a symbolic link to new location.

    That's it.
I do it all the time I don't like the default path an App uses. Changing the default path sometimes leads to unpreditable results btw.

For simplicity use: Hardlinks ShellExt https://schinagl.priv.at/nt/hardlinkshellext/linkshellextension.html

Of course. There is no way around the installation of the program and updates (file distribution, registry items...)

The problem is, that many 3rd party devs don't get when one uses non-standard paths and hardcode installation paths. So using hardlinks often is the better way to circumvent problems. And it makes it possible to separate data from programs, even where the manufacturer did not intend to do so.
